Four camera setup tomorrow night. It’s the first time at this level. A test event with the hope of it being the case in L1 next season. So it’s going nowhere, live streaming. Attendances don’t seem to have been affected since its introduction a few years ago. Not for us anyway.
Just had a quick look at the numbers. Our average attendance since 1952/53 is 11,483. Our average this season is 11,435, which would suggest BFC Player / iFollow have had minimal impact on attendance.
Do you need special glasses to watch a 4 camera setup? A bit like those old wooden stereoscopes the Victorians had.
I think it’s great. Reds that aren’t in the area can pay a tenner (most of which goes to the club) and watch a game they wouldn’t normally be able to. Although don’t get me started on the “dodgy box” brigade.
Would agree with you except it’s about 40 seconds behind real life so you have to turn off all notifications so things that happen you know in advance of already. That’s it’s only major failing in my eyes.
If I hadn’t jumped in quickly to book my usual seat I wouldn’t bother travelling tomorrow, but I did, so I am! It’s been great seeing so many wins at Oakwell this season but I think we might lose tomorrow and we will have the spectacle of thousands of East Anglians hysterically celebrating at the end. Or it could be another Derby/SW/Plymouth….
Of course it also allows ST holders like me who live too far away for a midweek game to pay £10 and watch the game and contribute additional income. (That said there is a chance I will be there tomorrow. Not sure yet but if I can be I will)
Dead rubber game, little lad wants to go but told him it's a waste of money until the play offs now. Only ever bought 1 game on iFollow, Val's season l think so I'll be watching on Sky Sports News.
plus what we don’t see is the numbers for ifollow, either viewers or revenue. Clubs only get gate income from the home matches so people who would never consider going to away games now watching the reds on ifollow is another source of revenue
In all my years watching Barnsley I've never known that happen. They couldn't give two hoots as long as you keep yourself to yourself. Whose daft enough to broadcast it anyway. I used to give my mate my season ticket regularly when I couldn't attend.
I am not sure that Ipswich or Wednesday will see it as a dead rubber & whilst our chances of reaching the autos are next to nothing while ever there is even the slightest mathematical chance you have to go for it , no way is it a dead rubber , also I am not sure why supporting your team even if there is nothing at stake is a waste of money , its a game of football , it might be a cracker .
A win tonight is highly unlikely to get us automatic but it would give whoever faces us in the play offs a major bout of nerves.
