MOTM by a country mile today. Only one who looked like creating in the first half. Jonathan Russell and Max Watters immense second half. We almost outnumbered ‘em.
Agree thought he did well. Only thing I was surprised was that on some occasions he didn’t back himself and played a pass when a shot was on. I said earlier I wasn’t sure we should look at renewing his contract and the jury is still out for me but he did play well today.
I also thought this - however with Russell, I think he's decent on ball and passes real quickly, but twice after he came on, he looks at ball before anyone has won it and didn't do anything, first time we won it, but the second time, late on when they almost scored, he just literally ball watched until the MK Dons player reached the ball and shot, he was either so lazy or very unaware & hesitated which is very concerning. No doubt Duff will sort him out though. Did anyone else see that? Especially the latter one, was so frustrating seeing that as I thought he did well overall
Russell has technical ability, that is clear. But he lacks any kind of in-game intelligence or defensive awareness. He makes no covering runs and is hugely reactionary; against better teams he will cost goals every week. He couldn’t be trusted to play in the middle again. If he plays he needs to play either side of someone, most likely Connell.
Cadden has a decent cross on him. Almost Eden esq. But, I wish he had the courage to try and take a man on and then cross it. Too many times he tries to bang one over rather than take a man on
Agree with that. He needs to mix it up a bit. Despite his great crossers and our players knowing he’s going to try it they don’t seem to be on the end of them much.
