Local elections...

The Tories have nowt to worry about. They'll carry on dragging the country down until 6 months before the election then they'll bring Boris back to do a Warnock.

 

Local elections are Fptp not PR.

 

Labour won about half of what Tories lost. They should have really been getting 75-80% of the losses, not 50%. Keir should be asking why the protest vote was split between Labour, Lib Dems and Green and his own party didn't get a bigger share. To a lot of people Labour aren't popular but just seen as the lesser of two evils.

 

And trot out the send em back line.Always popular with certain types.

 

No point peaking too early - the election could still be over 18 months away. I'd be pretty happy if I were Keir. From my own point of view I'd be happy enough if Labour got in in partnership with the Lib Dems.

 

I think there was a lot of tactical voting because of FPTP, and in many areas there was either no Labour candidate, or little to no campaign leaving the way clear for the Lib Dems or Greens to beat the Tories. I had no choice but Labour for my anti-Tory vote here but would have voted for a week-old lettuce if i thought it could beat a Tory. Of course it will be different in the General Election, the turnout will be hugely higher and there will be more choice of candidates and, hopefully, more options to vote tactically against the Tories. If that results in a hung parliament then so be it - and may pave the way to get rid of FPTP once and for all. Unfortunately, a majority for Labour would postpone Electoral Reform and pave the way for another hateful Tory government 5 or 10 years later.

 

They are already diong that; "stop the boats" at the end of every comment. Even if it's about the King, the weather, or the 3:40 at Ascot.
