Big Vic pops up with a goal or two over the semis? Sods law suggests it’s only too likely I always had time for him despite the dogs abuse he got on the bbs. Scored 14 league one goals and four assists this season. I wish him him well for the future but I do hope he stubs his big toe on Friday afternoon. Nothing too serious but just enough to keep him out for eight days
The abuse he got while here was some of the worst I've ever seen. Especially for a player who always put 110% in bet he would love to score.
I remember him getting ironic cheers leaving the pitch at blackpool away and similar at home. When in reality blackpool away the other 2 at side of him were no better. Not to mention all the stuff on social media. Real scapegoat.
Not a Championship quality player in his time with us, would have looked better a league below, as is evident. Probably on par with Devante Cole quality wise. Would have been a good option to have this season.
He’d have been our best striker this season had he stayed I think. Certainly up there. He’s not outstanding, ok. About as much ability as Devante though for me - who also looked poor at championship level - but with that bit more physicality, better equipped to occupy defenders and put himself about than Cole. Norwood has done a lot of that. In fact had we retained Adeboyejo, we might well have finished higher than fourth. Centre forward has been our weakest area all season; having him as an option would have been much better than say Tedic or Watters. That said I hope he’s absolute cak this Saturday and the following Friday, and we find him at 10pm Friday firmly in the pocket of Mads Andersen (who I pray to the gods I don’t believe in will be fit).
He got quite a bit of criticism on here but also quite a lot of support. I don't think he'll be any more desperate to score against us than any other ex-player.
If it is classed as abuse I will hang my head in shame. My opinion was he wasn't good enough for championship football. I still hold that view. But you can't deny he gave 100%. He as proved at a lower level he can hack it. If Bolton get promoted I will be the first to admit I got it wrong if he proves this with Bolton. There's no doubt he will be busting his gut against us ,that is a worry. A bit like Chappers .
Didn't we offer a contract to Victor ???. I'm sure it was himself that declined and decided to move on as he was down the pecking order.
I'm not sure replacing Cole with Adeboyejo would've seen us finish higher up the table. Victor has more physicality about his game, but there are a number of goals that Cole has scored, such as at home to Wednesday, that I just would not back Victor to score. Net result of swapping one for the other would probably be the same.
He would have been a better option than Tedic, but he wasn't happy to be 3rd string striker. Which you can't blame him for. He went to Burton and was in the starting 11. He wouldn't have acheived that at BFC.
100 % I never told him when he was on the pitch he wasn't good enough. Well done so far since moving on.
Am I right in saying his second half of the season wasnt anwhere near as prolific as his first? (at Burton)
I think it fair to say ..ahem...not rated by BWFC supporters! They are often raging at Burton for the sale. Should look more at their own recruitment policies i would have said. Always liked the lad myself. Enthusiastic but limited. His time at Oakwell had come to an end.
I agree he wasn't championship quality but neither was frieser or schmidt both cost us more money and neither got the same stick victor did. Intact cauley didn't look championship quality the last 18 months here.
As a rider to my op I did say on the bbs as opposed to from the terraces and yes perhaps dogs abuse was a bit ott but whenever we had a bad day he always seemed to be the first line for criticism
