Gally's already mentioned the 'sold out ponty end' and I agree with him. Big difference between being sold out and people not turning up with tickets

Because he can't comprehend season ticket holders not being frogmarched at gunpoint to the ground to attend and not go on a holiday. I know, hard to believe.

Unbelievable. A better club would hire planes to get them back for the match

Think it stems from the fact it was announced that the Ponty was sold out but they had a pay on the day turnstile open which obviously goes against what the club said at the time.

The problem with all this is that the early bird discount period has expired. So anyone in their right mind considering buying a ST would surely want to wait until the "big and exciting news" is revealed, and that it's not just BS. Spill the beans Khaled! Then you might get the punters.

When I was in the East Stand that day there were large blocks of empty seats in the Ponty.
Now I am aware that s/t holders are counted in the attendance figures but for people to say that s/t holders didn't turn up so that's why there were gaps is a bit nonsensical.
It would mean that hundreds, or at least dozens, in the same areas all failed to turn up at the same match. What's the chances of that happening?
I wasn't aware that turnstiles were open for paying fans, that surely renders the "Ponty sold out" statement a bit pointless.

Again, the club gains nothing by telling people a stand is sold out when it isn't. Which game are you talking about?
There are often blocks of tickets allocated to groups of people. For instance, reds in the community get blocks of tickets per game. In the past we've had parts we didn't sell (not sure if this still happens but the top left of the Ponte had some of that). I'd be extremely surprised if all the tickets weren't allocated/season tickets/sold to paying punters.

Gally i think it was the Oxford game which was never going to sell out. What's probably happened is a cut and paste job on the website article has been done and the sell out part not removed

Wasn't it the Wednesday game that he's complaining about? If i remember right it was an evening match, on TV, over a school holiday or something along those lines.

And agree, makes no sense whatsoever to announce a stand as sold out when it isn't!

I thought it was the game after that (Morecambe?). Wednesday match there were no empty seats around me but the next match that was also billed as a sell out, there were a bunch of seats on our row and the row behind that were empty.

I must admit I have some sympathy for @Mr Badger with this one. While I fully acknowledge there is absolutely no benefit to claim a stand is sold out when it isn't, and I'm well aware that selling out doesn't mean everyone turns up, prior to @Mr Badger commenting I too had looked at the huge gaps at the front of the Ponty and thought to myself it looked a long, long way from selling out.

I have no idea why that was and I don't think anything fishy was going on and I don't care enough to have commented previously, but he appears to be getting a lot of hassle, so I'm just saying I can understand why he made reference to it.

It was the BHM game against Shrewsbury I think. All available tickets will have been 'sold' at the time any such announcement will have been made. There was a section at the bottom that was reserved for charity/community tickets where around 75 weren't taken up, hence the opening of a pay-on-the-day turnstile on the morning of the game. If there were other gaps, then people have either bought a match ticket and not shown for whatever reason or a STH hasn't shown up.

I'm glad that one of the current things to moan about are whether we actually sell out or not.

Come a long way in 12 months haven't we?

Just NINE Ponty End tickets left for the second leg, by the way. Until tomorrow and we see how many Season Ticket holders haven't bought.
