I know when you see those two words where the thoughts of some of you go and I've been guilty of that myself, but this lady is, in my book, a true socialist. Dolly has given millions so that underprivileged people, as she was, have opportunities for education.
Dolly is now 77 and she's released a new album called Rock Star to celebrate her joining the Music Hall of Fame (she previously turned it down, because she considered herself to,be unworthy. The Album is studded with guest stars and I can't wait to hear it.

The kids book thing she did was truly wonderful, it really was.

Wasn’t a fan of her miming at Glastonbury but it has to be said she’s a proper socialist who has used her position, money and privilege to do a lot of good.

Seems to be a lovely lady.

Not sure politics come into it at all , I just think she is a very generous charitable lady , I personally could not give a monkeys about politics but obviously on a lot smaller scale than Dolly I give to charities on a regular basis & also do fund raising events for charities & good causes , not everything in this world has to be politically motivated .

Not a socialist per se, just an all round good egg. She’s been doing stuff for decades, the books is just one part of that. & incredibly talented..:)

In her words, "It costs a fortune to look this cheap". What a great lady.

Sorry if socialist was the wrong word. Really didn’t mean it in a political sense. Just as a person who uses wealth for the benefit of people less fortunate.

What's socialist to do with being generous.. The last thing I'd call a multi millionaire from the Bible belt in the good ol' U S of A.

She’s from the mountains, a very different way of life to the ‘bible belt’. She has done very well for herself & why shouldn’t she? They’re her songs. Anyone who can write Jolene & Always love you in the same day, deserves all they get. & if she gives a lot away, good for her. :)

I never said she funded it all - it’s literally millions of books and her foundation get the relative authorities to support it as well.

It isn’t just about personal wealth sharing. It’s using a platform to get the wider community to do good.

The imagination library was her baby and grew from her home town in Tennessee to USA wide and now Canada, U.K. and Ireland as well.

I can’t fault the initiative at all.

It wasn't a criticism of you Troff...or of the initiative tbh, just pointing out to people who may not know that the foundation doesn't buy the books...there was quite a bit of discussion in Rotherham suggesting they could do a better local scheme for the money.
