I agree actually. It’s a great photo and the ‘we need you bit’ looks really striking and evocative but it doesn’t even say who we are playing and the date and time isn’t immediately obvious. As a casual observer I’d want to know what, when and how much. It’s undoubtedly better than nothing though and it may tempt some people who are aware of it and just hadn’t got around to booking.
Goals could do with being straightened as well. We shouldn't need fans to volunteer their time for such a huge game to sell out.
Yes, that's the reason those finishing higher get the second leg at home - chance to have the advantage of extra time and penalties in your own stadium.
I actually think we do though these days. I reckon over the last 20 years we've lost around 5 thousand fans.
Yep. Of the people I know that used to go there are people who stopped around the administration period, people who objected to Doyle, people who just became more casual attendees (myself included until 18 months ago), people who quit due to the club's lack of ambition at various periods etc Some of them may/will come back for the odd game if the prompting is there. The club cannot afford to turn these people away, either from a financial or vocal perspective. If these posters get another hundred folk through the door then the effort has been worthwhile. They then need to find a way to get the casual fans back to being regular attendees.
Love that and love your rallying cry Gally!!! We should pack the place and scream our heads off. A bouncing Oakwell will be our 12th man, no matter what the score is after the first leg. Any doubters should get down Any ex fans should get down and see what MD and this group have achieved. This is why we have a football club. Our community should demonstrate what our community is about and shout loud for our club which is at the heart of our community. COME. ON. YOU. REDS.
Back when I were a lad a casual fan could stroll up half an hour before kick off, buy a reasonably priced ticket, take up a position in the area of the ground he/she wanted to sit or stand in and watch the match. Nowadays some games you can't pay on the day, the tickets are a lot more expensive and you get allocated a terrible seat. Hardly surprising that we struggle to attract casual/new support.
They're going to bring in a few his-and-hers portaloos so the west stand will be fully open. Either that or handing out a couple of thousand urinal bags at the turnstiles just in case.
