I don't know Michael Duff and would never claim to be able to speak for him. I don't know his intentions, his ambitions or how happy (or otherwise) he is at Barnsley. One of the few things I do know is that his family have remained in Cheltenham. That seems like a sensible choice considering the volitile nature of his profession. If it hadn't worked out he could have been sacked by Christmas. I believe he spends weekdays in Barnsley and travels home after games on Saturdays.

I don't know about Michael Duff, but I'd find that challenging, and more so the longer it went on. Even if I enjoyed the job, I would imagine I'd see huge benefits if I was offered a similar position closer to home. I do think that adds a further complication to us retaining his services.

Unfortunately money talks and if a club comes in and trebles his wages like previous players at this club have been offered, no one can blame him.
    Rinse and repreat.
No one could blame them either.

Agree. I am hopeful this is the case.

I think the point we'll be in trouble is when Bristol City need a new manager as that would be a no brainer for him on many levels. Higher division, bigger budget, and on his doorstep. I'd understand his decision to go there. I wouldn't understand why he would want to swap us for Huddersfield. It's even further away from Cheltenham than Barnsley is for a start

I've just changed my avatar based on this subject lol.
So hopefully it will give us some good luck, and he will stay with us. :)

Plymouth’s manager on Southampton’s shortlist for next season. If we don’t go up, Duff to Plymouth?

Rumours of Mourinho to PSG. If we don't go up, Duff to Roma?

Just enjoy the guy while he's here. He's made no noise about looking to move on. He saw out a decent amount of time (almost 4 years) in Cheltenham.

It's no that long ago that Darren Moore was the frontrunner for World Manager of the Year!

This board does more to find Duff new jobs than his agent

It's inevitable that he will leave if he's successful here.
That's how this football club works.
Footballers look at this club as a great place to progress.
We will never hang on to players as we can't match the wages offered elsewhere.
It's the nature of the club sadly.
    Rinse and repeat.

Isn’t it how every club works? Apart from the very few at the top of the food chain?

Absolutely I'm not knocking the club.
It's the nature of football at a lower level

So true. Whatever happens this month we're in a period of transition next season. Either our better prospects leave to seek their fortunes in the Championship because we're still in L1 or we bring in new blood to boost our chances of survival in the Championship. There'll be a load of new faces to get used to next season either way!

Of course there will. We regularly have 5 on loan players in the squad. (+ Martin who can’t even make the 16).There is a chance we may sign up one or 2 but we won’t see most next season. I expect at least one or 2 to be sold Mads and Connell most likely
I’ll be surprised if more than half the team in August played in the playoffs

My hope is the money from Styles means we only have to sell a couple of players .
Build on what Duff is creating, bring the young uns in rather than loan players that's no better.
Aim for top 2 in league 1 or consolidate and stay in the championship.
