36 needed for Durham with 2 wickets remaining. Already added almost 40 for 9th wicket. Not looking good….again.

Close of play with Durham still there and needing 30 odd. They could come out tomorrow and just stroke it around to win the match, or we could bowl them out in the first over.

Yeah I'm guessing that Durram will get the 100 runs needed, in the first few overs, err maybe lol.
This might be our first win in all fairness.

Despite losing a wicket two short of their target, Durham seemed to get the runs incredibly easily this morning. Numbers 8 and 10 knocked off 71 whilst being barely troubled. Yorkshire's bowling attack feels not much more menacing than a decent club side unfortunately and the captaincy seems uber-passive - we've only had one or zero slips in all morning for example. Eighteen games without a win, sadly, there's something seriously awry.

Gough and Gibson positions must coming to an end. Nearly 20 games without a win despite dropping a league. That partnership has been an expensive flop.

I'm no cricket tactics expert but I don't rate Lyth as captain at all. His body language is all wrong - he more often than not stands in the slips with his hands in his pockets until just before the bowler releases the ball. What on earth he was doing at silly mid off towards the end, almost in the bowlers follow through path, I have no idea. If the ball had been hit towards him the two would have got in each other's way trying to make the catch.

Another dismal failure. You can excuse the rained off matches denying us a win (maybe) but today was just awful. Letting the last wicket pair get that many was ridiculous. I know that Carse was still to come in but he was injured. Not sure why we allowed him a runner either - surely that's the captain's decision? If so, another blunder by Lyth. Ok, he could have just seen out the over then watched Raine smack a four to win it but, even so, allowing him a runner just handed the game to Durham.

And Root has only had 1 or 2 innings in IPL.
Seems a shame that he’s been a benchwarmer while his County needed him.

Oh yes I forgot that he was back and had taken over from Lyth. Not a good start to the season all round

I thought last season lyth was poor by his standards. But provided a few good knocks towards the end. His consistency at the mo is his inconsistency. A very good servant of the club. but his days may be numbered. Coming into normal retirement age for a professional cricketer. I'd love nothing more. than for him to go through a purple patch but it ain't happening at mo. Maybe drop him down the order to gain confidence and open with Bairstow. ?
He is contracted to the end of 2025.

He’s a walking wicket. Except when he gets 170!

No more County games for us now, until 11th June.
A few T20’s now and the Ashes to look forwards to in June and July with no proper cricket in August

What’s going to happen first? A Yorkshire win or a Wakefield Trinity win? Difficult to call!
