Barnsley FC, after talking to a secret society of people we will not name, have, with 3 days left before Friday, decided not to sell the remaining 5,000 empty seats. We apologise to all those locked out but assure you that you will be able to look at the empty seats on sky television. Yours, The directors in our guaranteed directors box seats. Ps, to all potential new fans, go support someone else who actually wants your money.
It's not a fight for today. The fans must now concentrate on getting behind the team. I'm as disappointed as anyone and in the future we must start to right the wrongs with oakwell and be able to one day make every seat available. But now's the time to get behind the lads and try to drowned out those 2 thousand from Lancashire. You reds.
What a stupid post you sad person......it’s a pity you can’t put all your concentration into encouraging all our fans who will be there into giving it all they’ve got on Friday night.......sarcasm at it it’s worst you saddo!
I dont think its a stupid post - ST isn't stupid. He never said he won't be supporting the team did he? He's just pointing out an issue with seating and trying to be original with his tone. Not stupid though mate.
It’s biggest match of season by far....so just get behind team, now is not time to moan........end of
And an even bigger PS where have you been for the rest of the season? Because if they had shown an interest then, maybe the club may be more accommodating…
I don't know what conversations the club had, with who, or when. I've not been a fan of the comms (or lack of) in the period between getting to the last 50 or so tickets and eventually announcing the sell out, but it is what it is. But, in the long term, if the board want the club to grow, we're going to need more fans and if we get more fans then we need somewhere for them to sit. If we're capped at 14k home fans long term then we can kiss goodbye to the chance of getting any players to sign a new contract with us after a good season (see Mads, Williams in the summer). In the short term, it would be good if the north end of the West stand could be brought up to standard to be available. But the fact that it's been closed for so long makes me think it needs considerably more than toilets and refreshments. Medium to long term, the fact that the newest built stand has 6000 seats, and most have them are barely ever used most weeks is criminal, and if it can't be segregated easily, then there's a serious design flaw there that needs sorting out. The fact that when players come out of the tunnel they are greeted by away fans with no home fans within 100 yards is annoying as well.
When we get back to Wembley I'm sure they ll come out of hiding ! Hope so anyway, we want to sell out our end!
Last time it was 2 trips, so quite expensive to go to both. We've known for ages we're in the play offs so I hope we would sell what we're given.
Shut up you whopper People had plenty of time to secure their seats but people waited on the bolton first leg before buying. It can be annoying but that is football. Fans are fickle. It is what it is. The club have also probably done a peterborough allocation to bolton not expecting a sell out. So it's impossible to divide the North stand. Stop pulling the club down. This season out board from the top to bottom have built with the fans. They will make mistakes along the way but if us as fans meet them half way they will be more exciting times at oakwell.
