    It's a beautiful island - stayed in Rethymnon a few years go - got the overnight ferry from there to Athens and had a day there.
    Enjoy the rest of your stay.

    You shouldn’t jest. We were once watching an England Penalty shoot out at home. My daughter was on her way home in the car. England just missed a pen (not unusual) as she walks in. We’re all sitting with head in hands.
    She’s like “What’s up with you lot?”
    We’re all shusshing her ready for the next pen.
    She pipes up. “Oh, it’s ok he misses this one and we score the next. Just had it on the radio in the car.” !!
    Never knew there was such a big gap between radio and tv coverage.

    July 1990. English v Germans, World Cup semi. Was it at the San Siro.? I can’t remember..
    Where was I? Wembley stadium watching the Rolling Stones. I had programmed the vcr (ask your (grand) parents, kids, to record the football..
    Remember the old press box at Wembley? People were holding up score numbers, which looked like from a bygone age.. when Lineker (?) equalised, a huge roar went up around the stadium. Jagger, in the middle of Jumping Jack Flash went into overdrive camp, thinking it was for him..
    Match ended before the Stones. & the press box was giving it a thumbs down after the penalties..
    Rumour was, which I believe is true. Ronnie Wood had a tv, stage right? JD & Marlboro on top, no doubt..
    Oh, & we met Richard Harris that show. We looked after his bag, while he & his lass went for a pickle. He took ages to come back. Stones had come on. I didn’t let on, but was a thrill for me, even then. Lovely fella, as I found him, even more thrilled as England were knocked out of the World Cup..
    The then Mrs C, nice lass, insisted we watched the whole match when we finally got home to our little place next to the then Arsenal ground. Gazza tears, Psycho missing a pen etc..?
    I’m wondering if that was the same night we blagged our way into the Prince show at the next door Arena & caught Purple Rain, after the Stones open air curfew?
    We went to 3 of the 5 Stones gigs, so it’s a bit blurry..
    I’ve told more boring stories & am working on the next. Happy days..

    Stayed in Rethymnon a few years ago - close to Khania - lovely part of Crete.
    For some reason got completely disorientated - felt I was on the South Coast of Crete but was in fact on the North Coast!
    Took overnight ferry to Athens for some sightseeing.
    Enjoy !
