    The difference being that Ajax did it all with domestic players, most of whom had come through their own youth system. Not some sort of Haarlem Globetrotters style circus.

    I actually feel sorry for Haaland. Could have had a hat trick but for 3 fantastic saves by Courtois.

    I don’t feel sorry for him. I’m sure he’ll get over it the poor lamb…

    Some team this city side and I don’t get the arguments people make about them buying their success. Who hasnt? Real and Barca have hoovered up Europe’s best players consistently for probably half a century. Man Utd and liverpool before them asset stripped the domestic teams in England and Scotland for their best players every summer.

    The Qataris at psg have spent billions, bought eye catching names and have never had a team that has looked as good as city do. Money spent alone doesn’t lead to the mature and professional performance we saw tonight. Madrid, other than a little spell at the start of the second half, never really laid a glove on city.

    I agree. And to be fair to City, over the last couple of years, they're net spend is pretty good. They spent & spent earlier on because they were playing catch up. Now they're able to do the same thing Barca, Real, United, Liverpool etc all do, produce local talent & bring in young talent before the age of 17. They sell young too, for brilliant fees, but put in a buy-back clause, which I assume at some point City will probably do for Lavia from Southampton, he's been excellent if a bit inconsistent, despite how poor Southampton have been. City fans should feel very excited right now.
