I'm sure I heard for the championship play off, the team that miss out on the prem get the entire gate money rather than a split.

Is it the same in L1 ?

They'd blow it on one players weekly wage.

From memory 25% for both teams and then 50% into the pot for the rest of the league

Nothing. They buy the rights and that goes into the EFL pot. Which of some is shared among all league clubs.

I did it as a crowd of 62,500 paying at an average of £45 a ticket. Would mean £700k to each club.

I think that's a low assumption as the crowd all in including hospitality will be closer to the 70,000 mark - however there's a huge amount of complimentary tickets that go to sponsors, players, etc.

Listening to past comments from owners ,I was assuming their wasn't a great amount in the finals.
Rather the winners making more from the increased income the season after.

Think that was our Playoff game vs. Swansea. A crowd of 6,000, additional stewarding and staffing for Covid protocol, and no refreshment stands open (from memory).

Don't think Semi-Finals are money makers due to the EFL split of 50%.

Plays offs are not bad, if you get to the final. Even better if you win it.

Part of the problem is player bonuses - they are triggered, so if you go out in the semis, you don’t get much money but have to fork out loads for bonuses. Wembley income covers the bonuses.

Vat. And operational costs I would imagine would take a decent slice off that mate. Vat alone on a £45 ticket is £7.50 approx £100k.
