Can see why they would think that. Don't think the statement needed making myself however I appreciate BFC were in a damned if you do damned if you don't situation.
Thing about this statement is if they hadn’t put it the club would have been accused of rolling over etc. Get criticised on here when they don’t put one out and criticised when they do.
Didn't need making in my opinion. I don't see how anyone could have an issue with the club when the tickets were released, statement or no statement. It's obvious that if Wednesdsy sold out, and whole blocks were available that were left unsold our side, there would be reasonable pressure to release them. Its a neutral venue so not our call to make, and the FA need to maximise revenue from Wembley events.
Yes but does it mean Wednesday fans are sitting directly above Barnsley fans? Sounds like a recipe for trouble tbh. They won’t be regular season ticket holders either as they must all be sorted, so probably attract some n@b heads for sure.
Barnsley and Wednesday fans will be crossing paths all Bank Holiday. Service stations, hotels, pubs etc. If trouble is going to happen then it will regardless of this.
As long as it is done safely I have no issue, but if any trouble is caused by their additional fans then the FA/EFL/Wembley need to be held to account.
No the extra tickets allocated are on the opposite side of the stadium. You're already in the block thats split with Wendies
Doesn’t mean to say BFC shouldn’t raise their concerns about this especially given what happened at the Millwall game. Hopefully there are no incidents in the ground around this area, but if there is, BFC can’t be held responsible
Ridiculous that they didn't open blocks behind the goals before the blocks next to Wednesday's allocation.
I wasn't a fan of how the statement was worded, as it sounded a bit like sour grapes with reference to being 'disappointed'. I can understand why they'd want to make one though, highlighting their representations regarding potential safety issues of Wednesday fans over Barnsley fan sections, especially given our previous play-off final experience and the actions of the Millwall fans in the top tier that day. A simple comment to the effect that they had made representations and been assured by Wembley that sufficient procedures were in place would have been a better response.
