They left three small kids in an unlocked apartment regularly and drugged them so they’d sleep. Anyone watching them would know their routine and that the kids would be alone (although everything seems to point towards them knowing what happened that night and covering it up).
How hard is it to lock a door and pass the key to anyone who was checking in on them? That’s the absolute bare minimum you would do, right? You forgot that they left their car boot open for days to supposedly air it out after transporting bags of rubbish which conveniently contained sea bass as an excuse for the cadaver dogs alerting. They must be allergic to shutting doors and locking things.
Is this established fact or some sort of conjecture? Genuine question, I'm not having a go at you. I would have thought that if this is true then the McCanns would have been prosecuted for child abuse but I've never heard anything about it.
That poor lad had no life and only suffered the most horrible torture from 2 people who should have loved him and cared for him, truly heart breaking.
It so happens that I live not far from where the McCanns lived (Quenibrough near Leicester) so they've been on the local TV news quite frequently but I've never heard these stories.
The bit about leaving young children in a unlocked apartment is certainly fact and enough to constitute neglect in my humble opinion.
The documentary on Netflix a few years ago debunked a lot of the nonsense that has been regurgitated over the years and again in this thread. A few years ago I was very cynical about the case and the McCanns, after having a couple of young daughters of my own I can only think what a nightmare it must be for them. If you don't have anything good to say it's probably better to keep your opinion to yourself.
Pressure was placed on the Portuguese police from the off. Like any good police force they wanted to look at all scenarios, but when they named Kate McCann as a person of interest( isnt quite the same as being charged over here, ) there was outrage from our authorities and after declaring they wouldn't leave Portugal until Maddie was found they got out of there, leaving a lot of questions unanswered. And a lot of the money raised from the public spent on Carter Ruck fighting libel cases ( which ultimately they lost)
The unlocked door is established fact, I thought the sedative was too but I can only find that the mum said she thought the twins and Madeleine had been drugged.
Kate Macann herself said that the children had woken up when left previously that holiday and was surprised by it.
I lived in Rothley at the time, where they and many of their extended family lived/live, if you haven't heard lots of "conjecture" then you must have been throwing a deafy. Obviously there's been very little media criticism, their legal team, Carter- Ruck are the uk go to specialists in superinjunctions.
It's conjecture that they drugged them regularly but Maddie's grandparent stated that this was the case. Everything else posted by Jamdrop and myself is factual. Turning down a babysitter is on record, leaving the door unlocked to allow easier access to the room is something they admitted, the cadaver dogs signalling they'd found things in those locations is on record as is leaving the boot open. The parents holidaying on the beach during the investigation is also factual with the reason being given that they wanted to make the holiday seem normal to the twins. Washing cuddle cat is again factually recorded in the police investigation notes and refusing to answer questions during the investigation is well documented and transcripts can be read in the released police documents. As I've said, whether they had anything to do with it or not is speculation but that their actions contributed to it is undeniable and that they harmed the investigation into her disappearance by their actions after the event also cannot be denied.
Bit of a non-sequitur that. If you want to stick the boot into parents that have lost a kid then do so, it just makes you a lovely person.
Fair enough mate, in the light of these facts, I find it really strange that they were never arrested...
Not if they are heavily responsible and haven't been held to account over it. I feel truly awful for that poor little girl all those years ago who was left unprotected and at risk by the very people who should have cared for her.
