Barnsley Owls - what's all tharrabart!? Barnsley resident Wednesday fans insulting fellow Barnsley residents is peak Wednesday though.
I've got 6 fingers (on each hand). Not an insult at all. I'm fab on the guitar and typing is a breeze. Some advantages I'd say. Dint Anne Boleyn have 6 fingers anorl?
There are places which, since the mid 70s, have been in Barnsley Metropolitan Borough, (which exists basically for administrative purposes), but which were not in The County Borough Of Barnsley. It is the latter, which, possibly because of my age, represents the town of Barnsley to me. Penistone is just another place. According to AA route planner, the centre of Penistone is 8.3 miles from Oakwell and 11.5 miles from Hillsborough. The relative distance to each ground is possibly reflected in the percentage of Penistone people who would associate themselves with the respective football clubs. Affiliation to a particular club is something which evolves over years. Many people support a particular club because their father or grandfather do or did. It becomes part of their identity. The re-drawing of administrative boundaries in the 1970s did not change people's souls, or their sense of belonging.
I can contain a wednesday fan from barnsley. Least they support a local club. People will support sheffield wednesday In our town because they are a big followed club it is what it is. The wednesday based barnsley fans who called us dingles are either fishing or massively thick and deserve anything that is thrown at them. Yet again I was born in sligo so I can't say **** all but least I speak tarn
You've never considered hoyland or birdwell to be in barnsley? Where do you consider them to be? Cornwall?
Hoyland wasn’t, traditionally. Addressed as Near Barnsley until the 80s. & part of the Rockingham Estate until the 1940s. & actually a much older settlement than Barns Lea, which was basically a field..
