Lads did brilliantly today and I’m proud of everyone of them. I’m sure that we all thought that we would have to beat the ref as well as the opposition. I thought he would give them a penalty, but he outdid himself by sending of one of our major threats. It’s true that Plillips didn’t make it hard for him, but once he had decided to go red there was no way VAR were going to turn it over. Harsh isn’t the word.
Not even going to mention the penalty we got turned down because I didn’t see it.
Can’t say we were robbed, because we didn’t take our chances and didn’t dominate enough. Feeling pretty let down to say the least and I had to tell someone. Thanks for listening.

I don’t think I’ve ever watched Barnsley in 50 years where the Officials have had such a significant impact on the Season.
It was always likely to happen today. I don’t buy the ‘corruption’ theories though. It’s just extraordinary levels of incompetence.

Life moves on. You know what, up until an hour ago I was really pissed off but we need to get over this very quickly. Use this defeat as extra motivation to come back stronger next season. We have to keep Dufff, it's as simple as that.

I can't see this league being as strong next season, by that I mean having 4 excellent teams at the top that have all amassed 85+points. I expect Derby to re adjust and go well under Paul Warne, they will likely be favourites for the league title, but of the 3 relegated teams, I'm not sure any of Wigan, Blackpool or Reading will fare that well. Portsmouth may finally get their act together and Peterborough will be there or thereabouts. We can do this but we must keep Duff!

Well if Phillips went for that then the Wednesday player should be banned for next season for the non penalty on kitching

I’d be amazed if Duff was in the dugout come august, Reading looking for a manager - 1/2 hours down the road for him……

Huddersfield after him too. However, if he stays then the Bristol City job could be available in 12 months time when Nigel Pearson's contract is up. Problem is that managers / head coaches rightly leave any club when their stock is high and Duff is getting hugely positive reviews from the wider football community for what he has done with us this season and the way he has conducted himself today. We must keep hold of him!!

£8m on the line and Tim ******* Robinson is allowed to make a completely ******** red card decision, which the VAR official waves through. It's beyond a joke.

I've been slowly falling out of love with football for a while now. That could be the final straw. Time will tell.

    Fùck off Wednesday.
    Fùck off Tim Robinson.
    Fùck off VAR.
    Fùck off EFL.

A few minutes into the match Michael Smith leads with the arm, straight into Mads' face. The ref sees it, awards the free kick but does not produce a card. I was fine with that. The ref taking into account the occasion.

The contest then proceeded in a fairly well tempered manner, considering the derby and stakes.

Then Phillips, who had not been dirty all match goes in hot to a tackle. I could maybe understand the ref producing a red as he was unsighted. But then we had VAR and many replays to rectify the mistake. It was obvious from those replays that Adam could not have backed out of the challenge any more than he did, his tackling foot lifted up high and away from Gregory. Momentum took him into the Wednesday player but there was no clear malice in it. The officials gave Phillips no credit at all and ignored the occasion, seemingly taking delight in the sending off.

As for the penalty, I didn't think it was 'stonewall' but there was contact and they are often given. And of course, this one yet again went against us. Just once they could err on the side of Barnsley. Just once. But no; these things definitely don't even themselves out.

Agreed. your last sentence is important - he clearly did take delight in brandishing his card. Similar body language to Willard. Tells you everything you need to know about him I would have thought.

The referee appointments were strange I thought. Considering VAR was in use, a regular premier league referee should have been used. Maybe they were all used on Sunday and referees can't ref 2 games in 2 days? Who knows. I said red as soon as Philips dived in and I still haven't changed my mind since seeing the replays. The pen though, wow. A truly awful decision.

I thought he refed the first half well. Took him 5 minutes of the second half to ruin the game. Left us with ten men for 1 hour and 10 minutes.

He obviously had his instructions from his paymasters at halftime.

Phillip's backside made more impact on Gregory than anything else, as he twisted when sliding through, to avoid hurting the swine.

Geography and another big challenge, only bigger than we were. I really hope he’s not tempted but no one could begrudge him being closer to his family
