I wouldn't rule out him leaving, but I'll stick my neck out and say I don't think he'd go to Huddersfield. If Huddersfield offered him silly money I'm sure he'd consider it but I doubt they have silly money to offer him. I have nothing to back up any of the above, just my opinion.
My biggest concern about him leaving is the fact that his family didn't move here with him, and Huddersfield doesn't fix that situation for him. I think we'll eventually lose him to a team that provides him with the next 'step up' but is also closer to home for him.
I think everyone has absolute faith in him. But he's an ambitious manager. If a competitive Championship side comes in for him, I think he'll go. I don't think that makes him disloyal at all. It's just modern football.
I'm guessing he's just referring to the toxicity of the ownership situation, plus a bunch of players who said they didn't want to be here when he came in, and were moved out.
It's the same with players. One of the most embarrassing songs that comes around, is. One Greedy B'std. Hammill being a case in point and then worshipped by those very same people who sang it. There are exceptions mind. I believe Bobby Hassell turned down a move to leeds. Dont hold me to that. It's just summat I seem to recall.
If he leaves, one thing I absolutely don't think is that it will be through greed. He's one of the most humble, down to earth people I've ever encountered in football. I'm certain the Club will do everything they can to keep him, but there's only so much we'll be able to do.
I just can't see the Huddersfield move interesting him that much. He will leave not sure when but I think it will be a club closer to Cheltenham where he lives.
Can’t see him leaving after just one season. Especially after such a long time at Cheltenham. He even said he’d had plenty of offers previously before he came to us and always stayed put. I think he sees this as a project and will definitely want to at least get us promoted next season. I’d be very surprised if he left now.
I said yesterday managers / head coaches go when their stock is at its highest. Duff has earned some great reviews not just locally but from far and wide with the job he's done this season. I've no doubt some championship clubs will be interested in him now. The Swansea job may be available if Rusell Martin moves on to Southampton. The Huddersfield job doesn't solve his family situation and in all honesty I wouldn't expect him to go there. I'm sure he will want reassurances from the board about our plans for next season and beyond but there is no doubt we will likely see at least 2 departures on the playing side, possibly more. It's whether he can accept that and go again next season. Personay I think Duff will give it another go next season and if he doesn't take us up move on. The Bristol City job is likely to be available in 12 mobths time or possibly less with Nigel Pearson out of contract next summer.
What is clear is he’s a loyal man proved that with Burnley and Cheltenham, he stays we will challenge for automatic and some of the players expected to leave may stay.
That tweet simply says that Huddersfield want Michael Duff to be their next manager. Why wouldn't they, given the immense job he's done at Oakwell? What the tweet doesn't say is Michael Duff wants to be Huddersfield's next manager. Like others have said he's ambitious and eventually will feel we can't satisfy his ambitions. It might come in weeks, months or years down the line but until the tweets say he is talking to other Clubs we enjoy what he has and will continue to deliver for us.
