I just, deep down, do not believe that there is some sort of ulterior motive against us. It's disappointing, it feels like it when it happens consistency, but it's just simply bad luck. That's all it is. I want us to suck it up & use it to fuel next year. Not come out with sour grapes and claims of conspiracy etc.
Fair enough but when you are bottom of the penalties gained table in your division and you are a high pressing team that’s spent a fair amount of game time in the opposition box , there’s something not right . Wednesday are top of the penalties gained followed by Ipswich , Bolton up there with Derby and Plymouth
Well said that man, it's a free hit anyway, nobody could defend that referee! Just ridiculous how many penalties are literally 'given' to other teams and we consistently have better calls turned down!
He's just gone up 100% in my estimation. I get the fact he's 'a Club Official' but there's a fan in there saying those words and that is very important for our future. Thank you Khaled.
I think if Khaled’s news really is as exciting as he made out, it would be a good time to divulge. Need some good news
I get what you're saying, just that when it hurts it's hard to look clearly! Especially when it feels like yesterday was a horrible playing out of countless times previously when we've had that 'bad luck'. It was like a tailor-made BFC nightmare in many ways. Definitely that using it as fuel will be Duff and the players' focus. But it's important to soak up the hurt and wallow in it a bit to make sure wounds are fully licked. If it's not fully processed, that's when it rears it's head with the 'hangover'. We'll do that for a few weeks then come back firing I'm sure.
I've been thinking and suggesting it for weeks, but after yesterday I'm utterly convinced that the professional game is now a stinking heap of corruption, totally in the control of its paymasters Sky and the top clubs in the Greed League. It's no more a sport than WWE wrestling.
He's secured us 6 penalties for next season on a 'Buy one, get one half price' deal. £75k for the bundle.
It was mentioned on the Talksport commentary yesterday that of the games we've had under 50% possession, we've won 21 - but of the games we've had over 50%, we've won only 8. So perhaps we don't spend as much time in the opposition box as we think?
We don't spend much time in the opposition box. This infographic shows where we controlled possession (blue), the opposition controlled possession (red) and where it was contested (grey). It looks as though we allow the opponent to have the ball in and around their box in an effort to press them into a mistake in those areas.
The ref. was conned by the cheat Gregory's dying swan routine and the swarm of Wednesday players in his face. You'd think it was rehearsed. Didn't have the guts to acknowledge his mistake.
I’m on the fence with this one. It’s hard not to feel aggrieved when every pundit is saying we were hard done to, but that also feeds the “poor little old Barnsley” narrative. Kitching’s headed is 3 inches lower, we win, Cadden’s shot was slightly wider of the goalkeeper, we win, Connell’s shot goes in, we win. So in spite of any officiating ineptitude, we could still have won that game if we’d put our chances away, and we didn’t. Can’t blame the Wendies or the EFL or the PGMOL for that.
Whilst I agree with the sentiment with what VAR is supposed to achieve and yet is still failing on what it’s there for. We should just go back to not using it. I bet you bottom dollar that had that happened in the Barnsley pen box it would have been reviewed the ref sent to look at it and given. I have no idea why the ref wasn’t even sent to look at it.
