Because he's local, played & captained 46 games at a club that got promoted to the prem, can offer our v young squad lots of experience to lean on & could no doubt still do us a job at L1.
Think the positives easily outweigh the negatives in signing a player like him but honestly don’t think he’s on our radar .
He’s been a legend in the game but not now. Years too late. He’s an even older version of Norwood. There isn’t room for both in the squad in my eyes. And would be less effective for us than him.
I was more on about your comment on our fans view of him J. Rather than the other way round. I'd have had him at any time during his prime. tbh.
I agree. I commented the same. Norwood has all the energy of a player much younger and it showed. Duff definitely likes him. As do I btw. As you say re the experience. The rest of the players look up to him as an example of the seasoned pro.
Cant remember the exact comment mate (disgusting is what I recall) but it was definitely in earshot and I was a good 20/30yds away. But Billy was a lot closer over by the corner flag. The supposed fan got shouted down. Whether he got punched. I'm not sure. that may have been a rumour.
It’s a complete myth is that. I was at the game in question at Donny and there were no such chants at all. It sounds like it was possibly one fan who was quickly put in his place.
Quality player and will do a job for someone in league one but don’t think he would fit our pressing system would he?
I was also there and it’s definitely not. It wasn’t many people. No more than a couple but it definitely happened. My brother threatened to **** one of the culprits.
I don't understand what he's done as a person to put us off him. If anything it'd be the other way. I can see the arguments against signing him due to his age but I can't see anything in his personality that should put us off.
