Aye there's some shockers on this list for me matey I'm clearly just not as musically cultured as you fine folk on this board
NUMBER 160 THE KINKS - THE VILLAGE GREEN PRESERVATION SOCIETY When life was simple. Pop down to the Village Green. Have a picnic. Watch a bit of cricket. Strawberry jam and all that. Preserving the old ways from being abused.
NUMBER 159 OASIS - WHATEVER The strings. The voice. The attitude. Could have been Christmas number 1 - imagine. Neil Innes made a few bob too, so everyone is happy.
NUMBER 158 THE SWEET - BLOCKBUSTER Brilliant riff - better than Jean Genie what they nicked it off. Glam Rock always fascinated me - and this is one of the best. Aaaaaahhhhhhh.
NUMBER 157 ELVIS PRESLEY - SUSPICIOUS MINDS A karaoke classic. What a song. Get in that jumpsuit and give it some. Then when it restarts again its even better.
NUMBER 156 BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - WAITING ON A SUNNY DAY Seeing as nothing has happened so far and I don't go to games anymore then you can have this beauty. Written just after 9/11, and the good ole US of A adopted it. Its a good un. WE'VE SCORED. LIAM KITCHING.
NUMBER 155 OASIS - WHO PUT THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD ON MY SHOULDERS Not even on an album. Not even a B side. Written on one of those throw away afternoons and stuck on a film soundtrack that barely anyone saw. It's amazing. The strings and guitar at the end. Noel wrote some utter bilge in the later years, and he wasted stuff like this.
NUMBER 154 MADNESS - BAGGY TROUSERS Fighting with the school down the road. Dichead teachers. Lots of noise. Back of the head with a plastic cup. And that saxophone.
NUMBER 153 EMBRACE - COME BACK TO WHAT YOU KNOW What a chorus. The McNamaras were a Fisher Price Oasis, but a Fisher Price Oasis is better than every other band apart from about 8 of them. Danny couldn't really sing, but when you see them live it isn't about his voice its about the tunes.
NUNBER 152 THE BEATLES - REAL LOVE This is one of them songs that Paul found in the 90s. An old demo from John that was lost for 30 years. But the message its bang on. Its Real Love. That's the best kind.
NUMBER 151 THE BLUETONES - IF Great bassline, this reminds me of summer. Sitting drinking **** beer with my mates down near the rugby club. Good memories.
Completely forgot about this song! Prefer Slight Return but this one is decent too. Reminds me of 6th form!
Have we had The Traveling Wilburys End of the Line? RIP some REAL Rock Legends, this is still one of my very favourite songs of all time.
I'm annoyed because I had a memo on my phone with about 140 songs and I was gonna wing the rest. But I got a new phone yesterday so they're all gone. Just as we hit the top 150. That means I'll have to Boris my way through the top 150....
