From what I’ve read from their fans, they seem to be mixed on their opinions on Duff. A lot saying he doesn’t suit their style (tippy tappy around the back for half the game) and they don’t want to see another style change after 2 years of implementing it. Could be famous last words but I can’t see Duff leaving for Swansea. There’s a good chance he could have another promotion on his CV with us this coming season, or at least we’ll be challenging. Unless they offer us and him obscene amounts of money, I don’t think there will be the temptation. If Duff could get us back in the championship and keep us there in the next couple of years, I’d say that would be his “project” possibly done with us and he’d be more than likely having top championship sides looking at him. Of course I’d rather him stay with us for the next 10 years!
Let's hope the board up his wage to deter him , if he stays imo we go up , if not we will be in anither situation like we've just been in
Didn't Duff say the other week that he'd never played the high press before he came here. Swansea's style may suite him. Plus surely Swansea would know about our compo.. so they must be willing to meet. Should know either way next week so hopefully he says. All the fans and club "in this together" would be back to square one.
He already has two years left on his deal. If someone needs more cash to stick around I'd question commitment. We hardly have any cash for players to sign, so I wouldn't want more budget gone on a coach.
For me it would be more about support from the board than more money for a reason to stay. Khalid often bigs up him and Duff man being on same page and outlook etc so that’s half the battle.
What a daft response. Duff has been a revelation for us. He deserves extra pay. You do realise its his job, right? If a company wanted to keep you as a sparky, wouldn't they up your wages if other companies were trying to pry you away? Why is football management any different? He should be rewarded and put faith in.
I’m not sure what style he played at Cheltenham tbh. He’s always on about winning the next half of football though and I feel like Swansea would rather pass it round the defence for 90 minutes and end up with 85% possession regardless of the result. I’m always confident we replace, as we regularly do so, but losing Duff would be a big blow. If we can make some shrewd signings and have Duff in charge, there’s no doubt in my mind that we’ll be up near the top. However, if Duff isn’t here then, like you say, back to finding another gem and to match Duff, it would need to be a massive find.
Kin ell!! I'm all for moving but just buy a house FFS. Imagine the logistics of actually bringing a house with him!
You're right. Reports about our manager being considered for other jobs is the exact thing that should never be posted on here. Completely off topic.
it's not a case of him needing extra cash to stick around though. I don't need extra cash to stay in my current job, but if someone approached me and offered me a big promotion and pay rise, I'd have to seriously consider it. offering him an extra 5k to stay might make all the difference. I would rather sign one less player and keep him. every day of the week.
