To be honest Duff/Club do not have to make any statement at all, until Swansea or any other Club make an official approach then it is all speculation & rumour, simple as that, it's the fans who seem to demand news about everything and anything even if there is nothing to report.
Where is the money coming from? We had 3k play off home tickets available on the morning of the away leg, and can't fill two and a half sides of our ground. The only answer to giving Duff more money would be to spend way less on bringing players in.
Nothing to do with selling anything. It was a tweet on his Twitter account. No need at all to go anywhere near this story if it wasn't true. Like one or two others on here have said.. one of our more trusted local journos
I'd rather keep Duff & have a smaller budget for players. Think we'll reap a bit for Mads & Styles, but won't be a massive windfall admittedly. Jalo should surely be ready for bench appearances. We have lads in the wings we need to utilise this season.
Have you read the article? The first line says reportedly a target and then goes on to also link the guy at Plymouth. The same article also has Khalid saying there has been no contact. It doesn’t say anywhere that that he has even been confirmed as a target. As someone else said he’s just repeated others, it happens all the time in local press.
I don't think it would mean way less on bringing players in. an extra 5k on his current contract is probably the equivalent of one player on a 3 year contract. if you asked the ST holders whether they would rather give duff a pay rise to guarantee he stays, or sign a player, I reckon the vast majority would vote for the pay rise.
Depends a little here. Duff deserves the extra pay, but at the same time he's our manager and will be aware that anything he takes will come out of his wage budget for next season. Imagine running a small business and choosing between rewarding yourself for performance, or investing in the business to aid continued returns.
Agreed. While I would be open to negotiation on a pay rise, we also know there's really nothing we can do if a big enough team comes in for him. He'll be off. No amount of money we could sensibly offer, would make a difference.
I think, if we don't go up this coming season, he'll go when someone comes in for him, trotting out the line " I've taken this club as far as I can". He'll be here 2023/24 though
Duff is as good as gone, the thing is, we all knew Teams were going to come in for him, its Football, its all part of being a Fan and come August we'll have a new Head Coach, Manager.
Si thi Duff, an thankyou, we cant afford not to let him go, theres a clause in every Contract, its been met and Duff is going simple as that.
what do you know that no-one else does? you seem pretty certain it's already a done deal. based on what?
I don’t care where the money comes from. Can’t keep losing managers after a single good season. We seem to be the only club that loses a coach so quickly after a little bit of success. Cheltenham were able to keep hold of him for a second season. Will be bitterly disappointing if we can’t, and will be a failure of the new board.
