Yeah I get that and that’s what Plymouth appear to have done. To be fair to the club it’s only recently emerged so it’s not like it’s been out there weeks. I’m torn between this TBH because on one hand like you say a quick rebuttal kills it on the other if they responded to every rumour it would nearly be a full time job. I think where I sit is if it was from more substantial source then yes but if you tracking back it has come from one reporter in The Athletic which I believe (but could be wrong)are known for not being that accurate saying they have added him to a potential list of candidates.
This is the article in question, https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/barnsley-boss-michael-duff-now-27140933 What do you think is more likely, that he has made up the fact that they are interested in him? Or that a source in Swansea City has fed that information? If the latter, do you think they would do that without at least some indication that there is some reciprocal interest?
When Michael took the job at Barnsley he said he was "sold on the project".The project isn't complete yet,so for that I reckon Mr Duff will stay.
That really doesn't say anything new. Just a rehash of what's already been reported to fill column inches on a quiet close-season Sunday.
Reporters keep saying that Duff would go but compo not been matched or paid yet, we need to stand firm and not let them haggle on price if that's the case. Surprised Duff leaving after a year tbh talked about only having two clubs all his career etc something wrong at Barnsley. Can't keep anybody
Gidding’s has confirmed Swansea have made an approach, so I think we can have confirmation he’ll be gone soon. and as usual we’ll be back to square one…..
It says a lot more than what we’ve seen so far. There’s not been any reports of talks prior to this, only that he was a target for Swansea.
Duff is under contract for another two years. The club simply has to refuse permission and that puts it to bed. If the club has given Swansea permission to speak to our manager then serious questions remain and they will have lost the confidence and trust of me and many other fans that has been built up this season. Dreadful from Barnsley FC if this happens.
Likelihood is that the compensation fee is set in his contract. There should have been a fresh contract offer in front of him, for a bit of a pay rise but deferring the release clause for another year, weeks ago.
Need to stop with this ever changing head coach model. It’s why we have ended up in the mess we are already and looks like we are about to find ourselves back at square one yet again.
