Swansea have made an approach. That's a very long way from them meeting any release clause or compensation we will ask for, or from Duff agreeing to join them and accepting their personal terms. Having said that, if it does happen I'll be very close to chalking fck under my support for the club. Close to being pointless.
The BBS bandwagon says theres no substance, theres been no contact, he's staying, and there hasnt been any interest in him, and whatever you read or hear is nonsense and all stories related to Duff are false and untrue, i've even tried to get a bet on him going to Swansea and could'nt. Do the bookies know knowt an all.
That isn't how things work though. Would love it if he stays, but I think the chances are slight. I'd rather lose him in the summer than mid season TBH..
My sentiments exactly. I can't believe how depressing this thread is, based on no solid evidence. I prefer to look on the bright side and believe he is staying, until I hear otherwise. It seems too many people take the opposite view.
Two points Mike.. if Duff wants to go to Swansea contract or not can you stand in the man's way.. And if Duff would sooner be at Swansea than here, would you actually want him to stay now if his heart's not in it. Even if they pick someone else or don't pay the compo.. Duff appears now to be looking/willing to leave oakwell.
By sounds of they are arguing over how much comp they will get, so hopefully that will affect what they can pay.
When was the last time a Barnsley manager turned down a offer from another club infact has it ever happened.
If he goes he goes, nothing we can do. He's a good manager he had a good squad of players to pick from we need to keep recruiting how we have with the likes of Phillips and connell etc and move quick to replace. Wouldn't be surprised to see devaney promoted. But he hasn't gone yet.
By the fact that Duff or someone at the club hasn't come out and said it's bollaxe yet.. I'm not one of those that demand a club statement because the pies are cold. But the silence says to me we have a good chance of losing our coach. it may hopefully come early next week where.. Duff or the club say.. well he did speak to Swansea but wanted to stay here and build on last season.. If that happens we can quickly sweep all this under the carpet and carry on as normal... But like I said earlier in the Fred.. there's way too much smoke coming out of South Wales for nothing to be happening
I'm not reading anything into the silence, as I wouldn't really expect any statements from the club over a weekend in the close season.
I like everyone on here hope he doesn't go as he's been a breath of fresh air since he came in last year and I feel confident with him in charge. If he does go however, I hope it happens soon so we don't have weeks of this will he or won't he. There's some good managers available without work too that we could move for to sort us out should we need to. Wilder or Nathan Jones should be top of the list. Wilder was close to going to Reading not long ago until they messed him about and Jones likes a project which we would be.
Yep.. get that. But I'd say there is and will be no bigger story coming out of oakwell this summer. And in the age of social media it would only take moments to make a statement.
We wasn't back at square one when Stendel took over from Morais. Struber from Stendel. Val from Struber.
A champ job's going to be difficult to resist this season. Leeds, Leicester and Wednesday or Stevenage and Northampton in L1. Chris Wilder anyone?
If Duff goes Nath.. I wouldn't look any further than Nathan Jones.. not everyones cup of tea, but this is not a personality competition, the way he worked at Luton would be a no brainer. But really hope Duff stays first tho
Agreed. He might allow us to turn tables and start getting some signings from Luton rather than them raiding us non stop
