not seen that; thanks for posting. Good words from MD. doesn't strike me as a bullshitter either but if he's offered it then it will be a tough decision for him. The point you raise re his connection with club is quite astute......after less than 12 months in the job does he really have that connection? if not it would make it easier for him to leave
I think that is an unduly cynical point of view. I firmly believe that Khaled would prefer Duff to stay, rather than pocket £2 million for the club's coffers. I am sure the board has the ambition to win promotion next season. What is the point of encouraging our biggest asset to leave, if that is the case?
If he wants to speak to Swansea the board won't stop him. I'll be the 1st to say it.... mick Mccarthy.
Selling players and managers is part of the business plan of the club. Like it or not, with minimal exceptions, all clubs are feeder clubs for clubs higher up the financial ladder. The day anyone signs a contract with a specific release clause in it means that if any club wants to come in and meet the release fee and agree personal terms they are off. Remember these are the owners who have put over £6m of their own money in. There will be further demands on them next year. I’ll be sad if he goes as I think he has been great for the club but it’s just the way things are, time for new heroes. Owning a football club rarely brings wealth or happiness!
How many times does Mick have to say he'll never join us as a manager/coach for us to actually stop mentioning him? He plays god awful football and I'm not entirely sure he'd get us promoted. I'd be more confident if we were in a relegation scrap, but completely different when going for promotion.
I wouldn't want him either mate was a joke. I'd appoint from within or a coach who's done a good job in the league before. Maybe wilder. I'm sure the club have a few people they have looked at if the worst happens.
Apologies, mate. Think I'm being a bit narky and petty due to this thread. Really hoping it isn't true. Shouldn't allow football to annoy me, but the injustice you feel at times is an horrible feeling, the feeling of 'what if...'. Again, my apologies mate.
It was tongue in cheek but if we've sold players for 2 mill and replaced them with a 500k player with potential id imagine same applies with head coaches.
Big difference though mate. 1 or 2 bad players, who might have had potential but don't work out, won't hurt so much. 1 or 2 coaches, i.e Schopp & Poya, can severely hinder the club
I think, and I expect those in charge of the club share my view, that Duff is vastly more important to us than any individual player we have, or have had in the past.
Hoping Duff turns them down to see the job through here but if he does go, I'd like us to go for Dave Challinor at Stockport. Won National League 21/22 then got them to League 2 play off final this season. I think he plays very similar to Duff too.
