Maybe I'm a just bigoted fool but I think if someone is genuinely identifying as a cat then they very likely have mental health issues. I suppose people can identify as anyhting they want, but that doesn't make it any less stupid.
I'm sure you're not bigoted at all. I can't get my head round it either as I am who I am. Its only gender they're talking about though, not imagining they are actually a cat. If they're taking the piss then they're taking the piss out of themselves and everyone else who had gender issues. Otherwise live and let live...
I thought you meant Michael Jackson… he was a pioneer in giving out his preferred pronouns, he liked to be referred to as He/Hee. I’ll get my coit.
Apparently it is worse... Kids not only identifying as cats, horses, dinosaurs, and in one case, a moon!! The worst part is that that other pupils (we are talking secondary school level here) are complaining on two main issues. Many oif the kids involved will only communicate vuia making the relevant animal noises causing disruption in class. Those identifying as cats have, apparently in some cases been allowed to wear 'cat ears' in class leading to complains of favouritism since other pupils are subjected to rigorous school uniform policies. This is basically certain kids 'pushing the boundaries'. They see this in the media/social media and a few (all classes have one two or more and always have done) who veer towards disruptive behaviour and are often attention seekers and think 'that's a good idea'. I am afraid the blame lies with those minority of teachers who 'Panda' to them and indulge them. As someone has said, it is damaging as it undermines and detracts from those who are genuinely confused re identity. Just another 'tool' for them to use to be disruptive. I know for certain, neither my wife who was a teacher for over 35 years and my son-in-law who has recently become a deputy head at an academy wold not tolerate those kids who are simply trying it on. It is simply a behavioural issue and most likely the parents would ultimately be contacted and a meeting to discuss how to resolve it would follow. The report, by the way. came from a reputable newspaper and the 'Safe Schools Alliance' contributed to the article saying it is a safeguarding issue since the underlying cause of any disruptive behaviour needs investigating. I think, notwithstanding the argument that some kids just 'try it on', that is true.
I'm beginning to see the genius in it now, everytime the maths teacher asks you a question, just purr and stick a paw print on the paper!
There was some discussion recorded, no one came out of this looking god imho, the teacher certainly didn’t appreciate the girls opinions about gender, calling them despicable and homophobic - the go to slur. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJCShL67/
Apparently not fake. Even the Telegraph has detailed accounts of kids acting up , the Safe Schools Alliance have contributed to the article. The reports stated some kids were only responding to the teachers questions with corresponding animal sounds, horses, dinosaur?? I am sure, unlike Social Media and the Tabloids, both the DT and the SSA, would have checked their sources before publishing. The original post (cat) MAY have been fake and only appeared on SM, but sure as 'eggs are eggs' a small number of disruptive kids ( every class has at least one) will be copycats and have latched onto it as another tool in their kit to cause disruption and in some cases 'attention seek'. These days if it sounds too daft to be true it probably is true. Nothing to do with Gender Transitioning, just kids of a certain age acting up.
