In win statistics he has a good record everywhere he has worked.

They seems to be alot wanting Moore I just hope the board don't listen to fans and make their own decision weather that be Moore or someone else. I remember when Wilson #2 was appointed and it was purely down to fans sentiment and should have never happened.

that’s my point. I don’t think they would make an appointment on sentiment

it will be based on data

I totally agree that the club are powerless if Duff wants to leave but what frustrates me and most fans is that after one season, he’s being allowed to speak to a club and the door left open for that option. It’s clear that the clubs philosophy is for it to be used as a stepping stone and my problem with that is that we never truly move forward after all the foundations and great work were put in last season. I’m not fickle enough to think that players and managers don’t want to better themselves, especially in such a cut throat industry but the club needs to have more of a stance in these situations and stop leaving itself wide open to ransom. It’s almost like the negotiations before the appointment are based on the promise of a better move if they are successful and that doesn’t sit right with me. Its happening far too many times for my liking, we will never have stability if it continues like this. Only a few extra quid in the coffers.

Yeah not sure he fits the model but I never watched much of Wednesday apart from the 3 games v us. The 1st one he tried to play football but we pressed them to death and totally did a number on them. The other 2 especially Wembley he went more direct to smith as if he tried play football with that aging squad it would have been game over.
Can't knock his win % everywhere he has been though.

Was the Duff appointment based on data? It seemed to me that we were fed up with mining the Austrian leagues and we just picked someone competent.

He's been on our list in the past, and presumably his stats have only improved since. I believe he was approached prior to us appointing Valerien Ismael.

I can see him taking some time out to be honest, and waiting for a championship club coming available. He's certainly earned that opportunity with his record over the past 2 seasons albeit with one of the biggest budgets in the division.

Data? I hope so. If it was loyalty it would appear he’s made BFC look like a proper set of mugs!

    Dragging on this in it?

I reckon he's on holiday with the family and not took his phone out of the safety deposit box since last Wednesday.

Its all because Southampton been haggling with Swansea over compo which is now apparently sorted. Once we see Martin announced for Southampton I would expect to see what happens.

    All fair points Benja.
However I have to disagree re the pre signing negotiations comment. I reckon that most of new manager contracts in football have a buy out / let me apeak with other clubs clause. By not including such a condition there's always the risk of a prospective new manager turning down the offer / deal. I would also reckon that most premier league managers have the same type of deal; Luke Potter at Brighton for example.
The stepping stone issue also works both ways at all levels.
It's not like it was anymore. Players / managers are always looking for the next step
Gone are the days when long serving players stayed and got testimonials as a reward for service. These days it's all about making the next quick buck.
Finding loyalty in football is like trying to find a needle in the proverbial haystack.
I still maintain the club are blameless in this. Khaled wasn't just looking at MD to use us as a stepping stone. In Ks head MD was here for the long haul.

I’m sure there’s no going back for any party. Difficult for Duff to use the loyalty card again which in my eyes gave him some kudos. Mind you I fell for “Trust me, I’m Tony “ many years back.

Can't agree with that. We have no idea what's actually going on behind closed doors, only rumours. If he returns to Oakwell for whatever reason saying that he gave Swansea the courtesy of speaking to them, but after some thought decided his immediate future was with Barnsley, then I'd have absolutely no issues.

These things are sorted well before it becomes public knowledge. I don’t think Duff is renowned for indecision either. I’m not entertaining any likelihood he’s staying.

It's infuriating. Pretty sure Cheltenham were quite open about allowing us to speak to Duff last year

That we've given a club permission to speak to Duff.

If like the club always points out that us the fans are the lifeblood of our club then don’t treat us like idiots and let us know what’s happening with Duff we’re big enough and old enough to deal with it.
