Totally, we must be the softest touch in the leagues, should be an absolute minimum before any release cause is allowed to kick in!
If Duff goes, I wonder if the board will reinstall Stendel? He had a real rapport with the fans who loved him, and this board are trying to build that connection between club and fanbase again. I'd have him back without question.
Same. Wanted him back before Duff. No doubt in my mind he'd get us out of this league. Some of the best football I've seen at Oakwell was played under Stendel. Bring him home Jaq!!
No, and Watford sack their coaches every time. We lose ours. There will be something within the club and it's culture that needs to change.
I'd love him back mate! People say 'never go back', but like you I think Stendel would be great again in League 1 and just what we need right now in my opinion. And as you say, his teams play brilliant football!
The problems we have were summed up perfectly by Connor Chaplin recently: "My relationship with Barnsley and their fans was good. It’s an unbelievable one-town club. I just felt the fans were let down a lot of the time by the board and hierarchy. “It’s a buying and selling club. They don’t have a lot of ambition to be winning football games, challenging and bettering themselves."
Stendel came second with Pinnock, Lindsay, Mowatt, Brown, Potts, Woodrow and Moore. Surely the best league 1 team ever and we came second.
More from Connor.. “Not at all,” he said, when asked if he ever considered not celebrating against the men from Oakwell. “Barnsley have a policy of buying and selling players and they don’t have many loyalties to players at that football club. “The fans were amazing with me and I had a great relationship with them, but the football club in general doesn’t have loyalty and it’s just about buying and selling players. “I was really motivated and happy to score against them for that reason.” Sums up what players and managers think of the club, not so much of a surprise that they quickly move on.
Do we get rid of Stengel after we go up because we were ***** after he got us promoted no thanks. Nathan jones if we can afford him.
Just met mi dog's mistress in't park. She said "woof" and shat on her own foot, so he's definitely off.
He brought together a team that were in disarray. Regardless of the players themselves, he should be commended for the togetherness that he brought, and the incredible consistency and attacking flair. We also had to get a tune out of Cavare, Pinillos, Thiam, Bahre etc. He broke so many club records that year, and you're making it sound like failure, bit harsh if you ask me. As for 'best league 1 team ever', that is some claim.
Or do we get rid of one-club Jones after he's spectacularly failed and then wave him off back to Luton after they've dropped back down to the Championship, Jones takes all his backroom staff and proceeds to raid all our star players for the sum total of 750k...
To be fair to the club it is not their fault they are caught up in this chain, they did not engineer this managerial merry go round they are simply victims on this occasion .
Will Duff still be involved with planning for next season with us (assuming the Swansea deal could fall through) or will he be mowing his lawn ?
