I've just ordered a new monitor with built in speakers. It accepts hdmi connection. My pc doesn't have hdmi connection, so I assume I should get myself a DVI or VGA to HDMI cable? But I've just seen that neither VGA or DVI carry audio. If this is so, how could I possibly use the monitor audio? Is there any way? Could I connect to the pink/green/blue connection in the back of the PC?
if you have usb 3 this may work, I use this sort of thing with work laptop: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0...&pd_rd_r=1cdb1c95-f9f5-432c-a3be-cfb84041581b
Apparently it has HDMI, VGA, Aux, Headphone. On that basis would be be able to buy a VGA to HDMI, and also plug something into AUX port to carry the audio?
Stick a cheap graphics card in most graphics cards have hdmi on them then connect it to monitor I tried VGA to HDMI a while ago and found it doesn't work as one is digital and ones analogue and not compatible
Not a bad shout but not sure I'd be confident enough to do that. Opted to order DVI to HDMI as that should do the trick according to what I've read.
There are some adapters to convince VGA and audio into HDMI, but at that point you might be better off just getting some basic pc speakers and ignoring the built in speakers. They tend to sound better for less than one of those adapters costs.
