Did brilliant at Luton and then failed miserably at Stoke and Southampton when the expectation and pressure levels went up so maybe Barnsley would be the perfect club to get his reputation back.
Only really noticed that his football at Luton was winning football which is all that matters for me although I always thought he was a bit of a whinging get.
This. I'm not naïve - I know they'll all jump eventually, given bigger/better opportunities, but please spare us all the 'long-haul/project/build something special' $hite. Just say you're happy to be at this great club, looking forward to working with this bunch of players and giving the fans summat to cheer about. Don't give us any impression you're here long-term. Had huge respect for Duff. Thought he was a proper bloke - decent, honest, plain-speaking and didn't suffer fools.... Feel massively let-down with this one. I honestly hope they absolutely tank.
Roughly 30 minutes shorter each way - depending on traffic around Cardiff or Birmingham. Although there are direct trains both ways so he could do Zoom while sat on a train...
I think it's more lutons model hence why they have done well without him. very direct I alway thought his Luton teams were. I don't want us to change our model totally like we did when val left.
IF he goes (I'm still hoping he won't) then the question for me is why? I don't believe that he's become a disingenuous, money grabbing g*t who jumps at the first opportunity. His track record at Cheltenham didn't suggest that. And he strikes me as a straight talker who doesn't shy away from difficult conversations. Given that, why would he say he's in it for the long term project etc? Something will have happened to influence his decision imo. Something that makes him think this is no longer the project he thought it was and he wants to be a part of.
I agree, and what’s worse for me is that no matter what the final outcome is, Duff is now damaged goods. If the Swansea thing falls through and he stays with us, I’ll never be able to feel the way I felt about him last season. In fact it might be better if he does just fu ck off somewhere else !
I was really interested in Chansiri's tweet about Moore. I reckon it'll be a revolving door. Martin to Southampton. Duff to Swansea. Moore to Barnsley.
I hope we don't go soft and allow him to speak BS about his departure on our social media or website. I don't want him being given a platform to chat media trained rubbish. When his departure is confirmed tell him si thi.
Tbf, local media are independent journos. They’re not employed by the club and are able to speculate freely. What I don’t accept though, is the silence from the Club. I realise they can’t confirm he’s left until he’s left, but they can confirm whether or not they’ve been approached, and whether or not Duff has spoken to them. But it seems like we’re not going to hear anything until he’s gone, which I think would be really poor. The Club’s duty isn’t to Michael Duff, it’s to the Barnsley fans.
Zero would be better. I preffered the days when those leaving us in the lurch didn't get the opportunity to say a few BS words.
Personally I wouldn’t want to see any leaving statement whatsoever, through Club channels. If he wants to say summat he can say it through his own channels, and anyone who’s interested can go read it.
Be patience pal, its not end of world if he goes, I am as much an ardent passionate fan ad you but crikey…..dont loose sleep over this mate lol…..you talk as if its a matter of life o death!…and for the oldies on ere only Bill Shankley said that !!!….we will be okay pal
