He also has good contacts within the games and often gets good loanees in. Used that especially well at Donny I believe.
Only thing he could work with at that shower. Squad full of brain dead hasbeens who couldn't string 2 passes together. Saying that he wouldn't be my first choice, even though he's best mates with Bobby and Bruce.
I'd have Moore if he changed to grafting without the ball press.. and ditched the tippytappy at the back 5'hite
Moore got the most expensive and experienced side in the division promoted by the skin of its teeth. Either one of those decisions in the second half of the final goes our way and they very likely don't go up at all. They were promoted not because of his tactics, but because their players were better than most of the division and ultimately a dodgy ref. When Byers and Windass were injured and there needed to be some original tactical thinking or adjustment the wheels came off. I think the age of our squad would be a problem for him as they will need more coaching. I'll stick my neck out and say I wouldn't fancy him to get our current squad promoted, and if we go into the season with a weakened squad he'd struggle to get us in the playoffs. He's a lovely bloke and he'd be a great representative but I don't rate him as a manager.
There was a stark difference though between Vals style and Moores. Vals was still high press, quick ball up front to players like Dike and Morris. Moores is far slower and hop they can score with headers.
I can think of 96 reasons straight away plus of course he knows our team & players inside out & of course he knows the division well plus he is out of work so no compen to fork out, its a bit like " What have the Romans ever done for us ? ", he ticks an awful lot of boxes .
I think you’re judging him off a few views only, he’s a pragmatic thinker who wants a professional setup and won’t stand for nonsense on the training ground and clearly puts a lot of thought into his tactics - he certainly doesn’t just “hoof it to the big lad”. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/foot...n=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if The Board haven't even thought about a replacement for Duff in the vain hope that he stays!
Swansea back for pre season tomorrow and Duffs taking training allegedly, so something may be announced tonight, possibly.
Could do alot worse than Darren Moore. A good win ratio everywhere he managed. Had west brom 4th before been harshly sacked. Had donny in the play offs and got Wednesday promoted.
Liam Richardson worth a look - free agent and won league title with Wigan. From Yorkshire I think. Chris wilder also. Would be delighted with him. possibly Nathan Jones although find him quite irritating not convinced by Darren Moore as a manager but would imagine the players would warm to him and he has good contacts
I wouldn't have Moore. If he'd really wanted to come to Oakwell, he'd have made sure Wednesday lost at Wembley or the week before.
Heard that the hold up is due to Swansea trying to broker a deal for not only Duff but Patterson, Devaney, Mads and Luca. Swansea have offered 5 million but we are holding out for 2.5
I would sooner have Griff Rhys Jones than Nathan Jones. Wilder would be a great acquisition, but not sure he would come.
Just comes down to cash I guess. If he was willing to talk to reading in principle I think he would speak with us
