Lets keep our heads up, I think our foundation have improving and the board want what’s best for he Club and Supporters, we was a stepping stone for ambitious Duff and in my opinion he did an amazing Job with what he was presented with when he was appointed.
I don't think it's the fact he's moved on, most managers do, even after 1 season of good results. Fact is, he lied to us. He failed on getting us promotion, and then blabbered on about how he's only been at 2 clubs for almost 30 years and he's not here for a flyby, he's completely committed, yada yada. Why say all that? Why not just come out & say it's a great club, great opportunity and I'll make sure I put 100% effort into this job? Why not just avoid all the loyalty stuff if he didn't mean it?
Totally agree, just like players kissing the badge, most of them would kiss the chairmans arse for a pay rise.
Not arsed, same as been said before it's the appointment that will make or break us. Do I have full confidence in the board? No, not when JFH was so close and we've had Schopp and poya in the last few years. There is probably an age limit on head coach aswell just so they have resale value.
People change their minds in the light of experience. I bought my 22/23 season ticket knowing that after 20 years of visiting Oakwell with my son, I would be back to coming on own (he's moved down south and now supports via iFollow). I thought I'd be fine with it, after all I'd supported the club on my own for donkeys years before he started coming with me. I was wrong. It was a long hard slog. I decided before Xmas that I'd had enough. There were other reasons and a gradual falling out of love with professional football, but this was the proverbial last straw. I continued attending matches until the end of the season, but didn't renew my ST, even though we were flying. I didn't bother with the play-off games - I bought one-day NowTV passes and watched from my sofa. In future, I'll watch through iFollow when the mood takes me. My point is that Michael Duff might very well have meant what he said all those months ago, but the reality of being so far from your family is very different from how he might have imagined it to be. A 2 hour drive is a lot different to a 3 hour drive. My son is 3 hours away, according to Google maps, but it often takes him 4 hours to get up here. Sure, the money has played a part in Duff's decision to leave, but it might not be the main consideration, just the icing on the cake, perhaps?
Onwards and upwards, don't blame him , chairman have never been slow to get rid of managers. As the god of managers once said, they should go to,they picked them. Good luck Duffy you did your best.
