He's been mentioned in a few places, I've nothing against Disco but I think wee would be in a kind of limbo attracting player wise until he won a good few games
Seems a nice guy. Loves Barnsley, great servant and seems invested. Just seems to lack that Je ne sais quoi ......... to be the main man.
Only trouble with appointing Disco. He's a good club servant like Hecky was. Once you step into the manager role then you likely end up sacked and leave the club or get poached. Either way, we lose a good coach event if it is in the academy setup etc. Normally the individual would feel they can't go back to their old job. It's not the same as stepping up as caretaker manager.
He may be a candidate but its not exactly a scoop to suggest a coach with a long standing association with the club is a candidate - Id be surprised if he wasnt. We have done it with success many times over the years Danny Wison Andy Ritchie and Hecky all went on to gain promotion and Flicker pulled off the great escape Nothing Ive seen makes me think he is the right man mind - is Patterson a candidate or is he on his way to South Wales
Nixon knows about as much as I do, but he's obviously a name that's gonna get mentioned. I'm torn on it. If he was given the job I'd have no problem whatsoever. He's earned his stripes as much as anyone, and certainly gets the Club and Community more than anyone. However, if he gets the gig, we all need to accept, him included, the new territory he's in. Personally I'd prefer him to stay with the Club and help build it. Like Bobby has. Role for life if he wants it, Club legend. As manager, all that changes overnight, and it's highly possible he won't be at the Club in any capacity, this time next year. Reminds me of that scene in Carlito's Way, when Carlito's lawyer reveals he's turning from lawyer to gangster. "You ain't a lawyer no more, you're a gangster now. You're on the other side. Whole new ball game"
It's Nixon. He knows no more than you or I. Usual scattergun approach. Of course he's in the running. Nixon will scour these forums and throw out every name he sees at some point in the coming days. One will stick and there's his 'scoop'.
Tbh I'm not bothered in the slightest about Paterson. No affiliation with the Club, only been here two minutes. I'm sure there's 101 ACs out there just as capable. Disco's a different kettle o fish. I'd be gutted if he left the Club.
I didnt forget Hunter but was he a coach he was still playing not sure if he was a player coach so I didnt put him down As for Davey he was I suppose the counter example to show that promoting a coach doesnt always get the desired results - one of my very least favourite Barnsley managers
Yes. As was Johnny Steele. It doesn't mean that just because someone is promoted from within, they'll win promotion. Neither does it mean they're the cheap option and will fail.
Does he! Good then heres one...Neil Lennon, he was on talk sport the other day saying he wants to get back into coaching with a club.
