I don't think so to be honest. Yes they heard a sound which was likely to be the implosion, but imagine if they called off the search because of it and then days later found the intact pod. It's easy to say with hindsight that it was obviously the pod imploding but clearly they didn't think it was clear enough

Indeed so don't call off the search but why withhold the facts?

FFS. This man was Prime Minister.

    upload_2023-6-24_8-56-45.png

Does he think that they were the first people to ever visit the Titanic? They weren’t explorers discovering new things, they were tourists plus the guy who ignored all safety warnings to make a bit more money.

Also, why is his picture much larger than the photos of those who died?

Because it's the Daily Mail and they worship BoJo.

Fcking ridiculous that the death of a handful of people is being used for political point scoring. But, it's the Daily Mail, probably shouldn't expect anything less.

It's a fair point. See above for Boris Johnson writing a glowing tribute to a bloke who developed a Darwin Award level deathtrap and took 4 others with him. His government introduced a bill which could be interpreted as making it a criminal offence to assist a drowning immigrant.

Also I remember you complaining about censorship of comedy for homophobia and racism. So just to be clear, we're allowed to poke fun at minorities but not hubristic billionaires?

Personally, it's much less that they were rich and more that they knowingly tried to travel two miles under the Atlantic Ocean in a craft that was patently unfit for purpose. The footage of the young guy's aunt saying he'd expressed concerns about going on the trip but wanted to go for his father was emotional.

Sadly their attempt at seeing something historic has cost 5 people There lives, early warnings were seemingly ignored in quest of there final destination…….no amount of money would’ve even tempted me to venture in that boat but we all live differently and search for different things in life, the father and son passing is truly sad to read…….this dosent mean that lives lost in the English Channel isn’t any sadder but there totally different scenarios and people on this thread can’t wait to Chuck in there political agenda

I don’t think anyone has said it’s fine that they died. A lot of people have pointed out that they seem to have taken unnecessarily risks and contrasted the difference between the rescue attempts for this essentially tourist trip and the rescue attempts of people desperate to flee to other countries in small boats

As for Bozo in the Daily Hail I think anything he writes is fair game for pulling apart. Doing that doesn’t disrespect the 5 dead what he wrote did imho

He was but this trip wasn’t an exploration that would ‘push out the frontiers of human knowledge’, it was a pleasure trip. I don’t think Johnson realises that this wasn’t the sub’s first outing and he’s excusing the ignoring of safety guidelines as worth it for the chance of it working as some new pioneering technology.
