He's done nothing wrong, good luck to him. But again it's the whole spiel, his dad saying he loves it at Barnsley etc etc (not he loves Duff and wants to play under him). But I get it. There is uncertainty on Grove Street. He's from the south and his family will likely be down there. Duff has gone, the dream is over.
Didn't even have a career before we plucked him from obscurity but that's how it goes. Good luck Harry, watch that near post
Don’t agree. Absolutely no issue with Isted. I’d have liked him to sign. He’s chosen to go elsewhere. He was never our player and was free to speak to any club. Signing for Charlton means he doesn’t have to leave his permanent base, or if he chooses to he can live in the middle of London. You can see the attraction. They also probably offered a higher wage than we did. Hope he gets a great reception when we play Charlton, assuming he plays. I also hope we aim some shots to his near post… All the best Harry. Thanks for your efforts when you were here lad.
Sure someone on here said they spoke with his Dad towards end of season and wanted to come here but offer at that time wasn’t right and was going on holiday to think about it. I’m sure Duff going would have had some influence on his decision but if true then was no guarantee he was coming anyway.
I don’t get all eaten up by any of this… Players, Manager’s, Coaching staff leaving isn’t anything new really is it. Happens in all walks of life and isn’t a bespoke thing to football. Don’t get why folk get all worked up about it.
Gutted. Very good keeper. His only weakness seems to be his ability to protect his near post. Got some work to do with the centre halves this summer then and defending from corners. Brad's a good keeper, but he doesn't command his area anywhere near as well as Harry did, and that for me is why I'd have had Harry every day of the week.
All de javu again the board has known since the 16th of June that Duff was going and so they should have had a replacement in straight away but no their messing the FANS about once it's just a recurrence of years gone by it will be a total nobody of a manager they get in where if they would have got Moore in he could have been here for pre season from the start but this board will end up putting devaney in temp charge lose the first 5 matches then we'll be playing catch up as usual. I hope devaney don't get the job or w be in league 2 come this time next year. Up to now I have lost all faith in the board i know that we are a selling club but for the players not for the manager they could have refused Swansea permission to talk to Duff straight away. We are the laughing stock of the football league. I think the board should put the club on the market and find someone who wants to buy it and snatch their hands off and I mean all the board including the crynes because there isn't one board member who is ambisous from what I can see.
Because the football club is part of people's lifeblood. I don't get worked up about whether or not Sheffield Steeler's get relegated, but I'm sure plenty of people do. The Club depend on that lifelong devotion from fans. So they can't really ask fans to just switch all that off, when there's bad news. That's apathy, which is the worst thing that can happen to a football Club. Apathy ultimately results in fans just not bothering full stop.
We’ve always lost our best players and managers. We’ve rarely done that within 12 months of them joining - leaving after 3 years is a different matter. A yearly rebuild isn’t much fun.
It’s just the spiel isn’t it that’s frustrating? All this “I love it here / I want to stay”. It’s all tripe isn’t it? He could have just said how much he was enjoying it but see what happens in the summer. just a rat. Like Duff. If he wants his last contribution as a Red to be throwing a soft header into the back of his own net to cost us promotion then whatever. Add that to the howlers against Burton, Ipswich, Bolton etc then is it really a big loss anyway?
Am I really concerned he’s chosen Charlton over us Not really He did well for us when we brought him him and he had some really good games however I’m confident Collins is more than adequate to step back in As for wishing him the best, I genuinely hope he concedes 5 goals every game
He can talk to whoever he wants. The issue is we picked him from obscurity, he mentioned wanting to stay with us which he shouldn't have said, and now he's shown no loyalty. I hope when we play Charlton we blank him. No silly boos, but not applause, just lots of near post shots. He's no different to Micky Long Haul.
Maybe. But if he's so good why not back yourself and assume you'll be no.1 under any new manager if you've already been somewhere and supposedly like it? I prefer Brad anyway and no way we could have both so not overly bothered personally.
I’m guessing this all came down to it being closer to home etc. Imagine if we have offered same wage as Charlton but now he won’t need to move home or be away from family etc it’s a no brainer then.
A fair point granted… we’re always going to lose anyone who has an inkling of success here though. It’s the way we operate and we’re just a stepping stone for folk. The fire sale of Davies, Pinnock, Moore etc !! Doesn’t matter whether that’s 1,2 or 3 years to me. All about opinions.
Really harsh for me this, to call Isted a 'rat'? Wow. He wasn't even our player. He was a loan player that returned to his parent Club. I used to be an IT contractor. I was on a job that was brilliant. I loved it and would have renewed my contract in a heartbeat. No problem. That was fully my intention. Then the manager left. When my contract was nearing renewal, there was still no new manager, and I was given no assurances about what would be happening to the team, or me. Days later I was offered another contract in a different area, with a brilliant manager who said he saw me as a key part of the team and wanted me to join him. It took me about 30 seconds to decide. Does that make me a 'rat'?
