Personally wouldn’t renew spent 4 seasons here and for one reason or another it’s never really worked out. Not sure how giving him another deal in the hope it does eventually is how we should operate.
The only plus from that is when he leaves we get some money back from the large sum which was wasted in the first place.
His contract has ended. We have offered him a new one. If he can get a better one or one where he is likely to be a first 11 starter no reason for him to stay with us. If he wants to stay here he can. Bit harder for him to decide with no head coach in place of course. If he stays I’m not complaining but there are players I will miss a lot more if he goes
The only plus side I see if he signs a new contract we get a fee when he leaves. As it stands he walks free and negotiates a much better deal. That's why the bossman rule stinks. Apart from signing players for free.
I won't lose any sleep when he walks ,I didn't fork out 900k whatever we signed him for. Coventry had our trousers down on that one.
Not getting excited until a new manager is appointed and we know his style of play, who he brings with him and which players he likes. I suspect some players are too - don’t envy the Board as they don’t have much time with pre season starting soon but these things cannot be rushed.
From what I hear he will be signing the new deal offered. Missus is from Mapplewell and last I heard he was looking to buy a house in the area too.
Either he's suffering with some kind of split personality disorder or no-one actually has a clue what the situation is.
Whatever your views of the players in question, that is two that we have offered deals to, with an expectation of them signing, only to see them move elsewhere after Duff did one. Failure to keep hold of a coach after a decent season will continue to hold us back
