If I've read it right then there are three forms of drugs testing at festivals. Back of house testing where confiscated drugs are tested and then alerts put out to the festival if drugs are found to be impure, medical testing where medics can have drugs tested like you say if someone has a bad reaction and the last one is rarer, front-of-house testing which says people can take their drugs to test them. The article I read earlier says that's at Glastonbury this year but I can't find it now sadly.

Guns N Roses.... Slash incredible as always, Axl just hasn't got the chops to carry it off anymore.

Right, so it's 'back of house' testing of confiscated drugs, which they test to alert people that dodgy gear is circulating. They're not testing people's gear to make sure it's 'safe' to take, which is what I thought the first post was suggesting.

'You're not from New York City you're from Rovrum' he famously sung at the pretentious fashionistas circa '04. Oh the irony :D I've fallen out of love with Arctic Monkeys, it probably happened after Suck It And See if I'm being totally honest, though AM was ok for a bit.

Never been a big fan if I'm honest but I do like some songs off AM in particular. I wonder what the rest of the band think to all this.

One good album for me. And personally I think even that wasn't as good as it could have been. IMO, some of the bootlegs that didn't make the album, were better than other songs that did. He's been ripping off Richard Hawley for years.

Watch it on i-player. You can pick which bands you want to see so that it just feels like individual gigs. Manic Street Preachers were excellent and funnily enough, Rick Astley and the Blossoms doing Smiths songs were very entertaining. Lewis Capaldi created a great atmosphere although his Tourettes seems to have got worse. Axl Rose's voice seems to have finally broken but Slash is unbelievable.

Is there any sort of link with Mickey's Monkeys of 1970's club land fame?

Slash is awesome as ever. I think Axl is doing great. Much better than a few years ago, when he really WAS out of shape.. :)

Feel bad for Lewis. Sounds like he came back to the big stage too soon. Not a fan of his music, but always comes across as a sound bloke. Hope he gets better soon.

I think strangely Suck It And See is my favourite album now. WPSIATWIN (lol) lost its appeal when I grew out of indie, very much an 'of its time' album. Same with the Favourite Worst Nightmare album. I liked Humbug when it came out and respected the change of direction. I'm not bothered about AM now. I liked Tranquility when it came out though probs won't listen to it again. And I like the first single off The Car but not listened to album. Just not bothered any more. My brother was slightly heartbroken when i told him this last night, as he adores them and especially Turner. And one of my best mates loves them. Much rather listen to Deerhunter, who are a true indie band who have stood the test of time and don't have any pretensions. But music is all subjective so just my view :) people like what they like and far be it from me to tell someone what is good and what's not, I learnt that when I was 18 and my mate told me I was a bit closed-minded when it came to music (he was right).

Was just about to say as much. Technically, the best at the whole festival, by a mile. You wouldn’t know that by his guitars with Chrissie, he doesn’t underplay, just delivers the songs as they should be. A Sunday afternoon pub is the best time to see what James can really do. Technically speaking.. :)

He is the weak link in the band now, November Rain is one of my all time favourite songs and he has just murdered it

I was there. I love the kid.

He’s brilliantly funny and amazingly talented as an artist.

All 100,000 people were with him all the way.

I do feel like we might not have him forever as a singer, which would be a massive loss.

Even if you don’t like his music, he’s a working class kid who had the world at his feet. He’s working incredibly hard to get over a terrible affliction, in front of 100k people. Which is self fulfilling.

It would be a shame for him not to be able to continue to perform. It’s been his life since he was a wee boy.
