So what he should have said is something like, “I’m an ambitious manager and I want to use my talents at the highest level I can and when a bigger club comes along I’ll be off?” That would of course have helped cement the bond between him and the fans at a time when there was clearly a rift with the club. Football is a grown up business and talent is at a premium. We are a competitive side in division one, less so in the championship. I have been to play off finals on numerous occasions, a fa cup semi final and won a cup. Non of these things with the same coach, or the same board. Barnsley is an amazing club punching well above its weight. This is just another chapter in an amazing story. Turn the page and move on. Yoooouuuuuu reeeds.
Couldn't agree more. I'm exactly the same over 20 years season ticket ,gave it up in 2019,was actually thinking about getting back on the band wagon, and hey presto the reason I gave it up just exactly how you put it. " you took the words right of my mouth"
Tarn are in my blood and I'll always be there for them, but hardly ever go away these days. As for the rest of pro football, it's corrupt to the core and they can shove it where the sun don't shine. Totally agree with you that non-league is the way to go for entertainment, honest endeavour and value for money. I spread myself around the local teams and am never disappointed. In the same vein I also follow Rugby League at various levels, but again mostly at the lower levels.
I enjoyed last season and hopefully will enjoy the coming one Duff did a solid job but I don't think he's the only manager that was capable of doing it.Really hoping the board choose one of the others that could do a similar or better job and we are looking forward to the next season in the Championship. COYR!
Barnsley fc said they had taken the barnsley women's team under their wing, if not true they should not make a big deal of it in the local rag
They have. Do you realise there are two teams? One that is now Barnsley FC, and another that’s totally separate from the Club
And then i'm the opposite, Oakwell was'nt doing it for me, big games plenty in, great, but away, its the buzz, its the excitement i get it away, but it lacked it at home, everybody to their own, i'm aving a year off i'm going to 2 games only this year, thats it, Derby an Blackpool away an the Blackpool one'll be a weekend, i'll be staying local an swap between Brid an Scarborough.
Yes i know there are 2 barnsley women's team, but the one barnsley fc have taken over are having to play at the old don valley stadium in Sheffield, why ?. We have a perfectly good ground at oakwell and it should bring in extra revenue and even if they feel it's wrong for whatever reason to play there we have an exceptional u 18 pitch/ training ground whatever you want to call it. No barnsley team should have to play in Sheffield
Barnsley Women are playing at Sheffield! Barnsley Ladies are the ones who have been taken over by BFC!
No, its the independent club that has debunked to Sheffield. Barnsley FC Ladies are based at Oakwell, previously they played on the Academy pitch but from now on they'll play on Oakwell itself as often as they can, dependent on how their fixture list stacks up against the mens.
Well that's not the way i read it . One team is playing wombwell way and the barnsley team in Sheffield. If i am wrong then the Chronicle should make it clear. But which ever team it is, as i said previously no barnsley team should have to play in Sheffield
I guess this is the article you're referring to. Seems pretty clear from the article that they're talking about Barnsley WFC https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/25581/womens-team-remain-committed-to-town "The team - who play in the fourth tier in England - had been based at Wombwell Town’s ground, but have been attempting to move to a new stadium in Barnsley for years" It also says Barnsley WFC are a different team to the new Barnsley FC women's team (previously Barnsley Ladies): - "Barnsley FC have just launched a ‘professional’ women’s team, taking over Barnsley Ladies who are in the division below Maddock’s club. He said: “We wish them all the best. There is no animosity at all. Maybe there will be some derbies against them in the future.”
No i pass my copy on but it was the copy before this last one i believe, but have seen something online somewhere as well
The chronicle article is clear, it says that the team who previously played at wombwell will now play in Sheffield. That's barnsley women who refuse to have anything to do with barnsley FC. Barnsley ladies are the official club of barnsley FC and will play at Oakwell.
Left us with the basics of a decent ( regardless of players who may leave) squad ,players wanting to prove we deserve to go up. The new manager, if he fits the bill ,has an easier chance to progress with the team we have plus a few well considered new faces. The foundations are there to progressand yes, go up automatically.
