I have just found a bit on line it is barnsley women playing at Sheffield, my mistake but it is still wrong that our lasses have to go there
This is the bit that's causing confusion I think. Has anyone actually said that they're renaming to barnsley FC women? Because at present they're called Barnsley FC ladies and the breakaway team is Barnsley women. I am quite excited by it too. I'll probably only go to a couple of games but it's a couple more than I did last year
Things are certainly lots better than they were this time last year. We have a core squad that's come on absolute leaps and bounds, we don't have any of the negative 'want away' influence floating around (I hope) and the Board have had 12 months to get their ship in order. With the right manager and recruitment, we can definitely go again. The league doesn't feel as strong as it did last season, so for me we should absolutely be shooting for top 6. The problem we have is how things finish. If we don't get promoted, I expect us to be searching for yet another new manager this time next year. Having a new gaffer every season just isn't sustainable.
Dunno whether they will called ladies or women. 'Women' seems to be the term that gets used most often, but dunno. Up to them innit. Being rebranded to Barnsley FC is the important bit for me.
This is bang on. And once you've seen the cycle a few times you begin to doubt the point of it all. Add in an uncomfortable stadium and ridiculous access issues and the impetus to return feels a long way off.
They’re not “our lasses” though are they? They are a completely seperate club who have CHOSEN to go there. I suspect a name change will follow.
I don't know the problem with you. If they use the name Barnsley they are not sheffielders. Its a figure of speech our lasses meaning Barnsley and it doesn't matter how many teams there are if they are based in Barnsley using Barnsley name
I imagine he’s regretting ever even mentioning it. People have latched onto it to the point that whatever it is, there will be a contingent of people who say ‘is that it’!?
Perhaps the big news was that they had offered Michael Duff an improved contract and Harry Isted was due to sign. Unfortunately Michael Duff has decided to leave and that’s stopped Isted joining so now there is no big news. Not sure that would be Khaled’s fault though.
