My wife is fed up with my frustrated depressed and agitated manner, and she has suggested I support a different team (a “better” one). I was shocked.
How do I deal with her? We have been married for 44 years very happily, so my options are limited. I did take her to the Reading away match in 1979 on our honeymoon (who remembers that game?) and that may have coloured her attitude.

Threaten her that you’re going to switch to becoming a Wendy. That’ll do the trick

    Is it chuff.
There's a reason that you can legally get a divorce but there's no way to officially abandon your football club

Thanks for the sound advice but I was hoping for something a little more subtle/creative.

Unless she tries to blow you when the trumpet line comes in I'd call it a day TBH.

Perhaps go and support Bradford for a bit. You'll end up even more depressed and angrier. Then your wife will be happy for you to start supporting Barnsley again after some time.

In all seriousness I’d kindly remind her that when you got married you vowed to look after one another through good and bad times……if she can’t raise her game to help you know then do as she says and trade her in for a new model who appreciates who you are!!

Reading away. Therin lies the problem. Make her sit down and watch one of the many performances that make you a Barnsley fan. Eg Man utd fa cup at home.
Or take her to the bingo now and again.
We'll have been married 46yrs in a week or so and have a love/hate relationship.
I love her. She hates me. Works fine.

For me it was Barnsley 4 Torquay 2 early 1960s Bert Tindall, just vague memories.
