Went to see Bonnie Raitt a few weeks ago , 73 , voice as good as ever , slide guitar incredible . Think sound system at Glastonbury doesn’t help some of the acts
Earlier we went to see Elvana at The Avalon Stage A guy dressed as Elvis singing Nirvana songs in the style of Elvis and Elvis songs in the style of Nirvana Hugely entertaining
I think it said something on radio earlier about how you could barely hear Axl on TV but the crowd could hear him clearly. Sounds like it isn't sometimes being mixed well for TV.
Yeah was fine at the Pyramid. I mean his voice struggled the more the show went on but there wasnt the issues people watching on tv mentioned
People don’t understand often that polished studio vocals, especially falsetto like Axl take dozens of takes, double tracking & studio trickery to perfect. Singing live is a different animal, especially for hours on end, night after night. The heat & humidity of a festival, when you’re in you 60s, 70s in Debbie’s case & people are calling them washed up.? We’re talking 40, 50, 60 year careers? These gobsh*tes shouldn’t be allowed a radio, let alone access to live performances. & that’s coming from a player. Grr..
Seen Manics, Rick Astley (solo and with Blossoms) Artic Monkeys and Sparks so far off iPlayer. Enjoying the tunes but couldn't face camping for 3 days. Got FatBoy Slim on now. Still brilliant for an aging raver ( me not the Brighton resident)
Yep and captures something of what the original spirit of the times that led to things like Glastonbury starting up. I've been five times and wish anyone who goes a great time, but things about it pee me off. Virtue signalling about carbon footprint then letting Holly Willoughby helicopter into the festival. What's she adding to the party to warrant that. Still a few folk who get it, Dave grohl getting there by train and having a selfie with the conductor.
I know I’m biased but went to see Springsteen at Villa park last week and at 73 he sounded brilliant, he had the place bouncing for 3 hours.
He was a big act for a bit, around turn of the millennium. I went to see them at the Forum, somewhere like that. It was about the same time as Dread Zeppelin. Well, you can guess how their act went..
Never heard of her before but my daughter spotted her on iplayer and made us put her on and have to say despite not knowing any of her songs thought she did very well.
I’ll look out for it. I’ve been impressed with a few ‘new’ acts. New to me, this being my first Glastonbury with a smart tv & iplayer. I’m not the most tuned in. To me the Arctic lads are new, some northern Libertines wannabes..
