He'll do well against any forward who wants a battle with him. But he will have rarely experienced someone someone running at him at the pace some Premier League forwards do. Doesn't mean he won't be able to handle it, but it will be a shock to the system compared to what he's just had to deal with.

'The new Polish lad (Lopata) is a very worthy player. I have BT Sports and have watched him a few times and he has always given a very solid performance. So I have no worries.' :) So we've nothing to fear apparently.

The jury still out on the other three (Cundy, McCarthy, Moon - sound like a 60s songwriting trio: '(I'm Not A) Fly By Night', by Cundy, McCarthy & Moon :D). Kitching first name on the teamsheet.

Dunno about that. His biggest weakness is getting into needless battles where he drags their player to the floor and gets booked. In the PL, with the pace of some players (as you mention), they will likely leave him dead in his tracks. But if it comes off I really hope he's successful like Pinnock.

Sad to see him go but good luck to the lad , thought he stepped up a gear in his game second half of the season and one things for sure no one will train harder than Mads , if true I think it’s a good move for him football wise , he’s a chance to play in the Prem , Luton’s a shithole of a place to live though

Tbf, much as I love him no. I think he can step up, he's got his head screwed on, is a dedicated professional and wants to improve and have the chance to play for Denmark. Really hope he does it for you, he's a lovely lad and I'm gutted that he didn't get the chance to lift the trophy at Wembley, he so wanted to!

Against a team who play football on the deck, he'll do well. Against a side who like to get the ball in behind, he'll struggle. He'll deal with players running at him all day long, but sometimes needs a second or two to deal with a bouncing ball.

However, one thing about him is, he seems to just improve from game to game. If you'd have said to me 3 years ago that one day, he'll play in the Premier league, if have laughed at you. He couldn't do the basics, nevermind anything else. He's come a long way since then though. He came back after Covid stopped play, and started mopping up, and putting the ball out of play at any sign of danger, which was the start of his journey so to speak. I think the 9 months he spent under Valerien Ismael, where it seemed he was instructed to get the ball forward as early as possible did him no end of good. His passing was a bit aimless at times during that period, but he'd sorted that out last season, and started this season looking like the complete player.

He's got the most infectious smile too. It's impossible to dislike him. He seems like a proper lovely lad. I really hope he gets the chance to represent his country one day.

Not as good as Pinnock, although he's now a top half Prem player. Playing the best football of his life bit I'd hope he's a back up rather than being thought of as your mainstay.

    All the best up there!

A lot depends on the new manager, who might decide to play a back 4. I'd think Kitching and Lopata could be the two if so.

On what I've seen, a settled defence should improve on McCarthy, Cundy and Moon if we're to challenge at the top.

The fee may or may not be £3m but likely we'll never know as it will be reported as 'undisclosed and we retain an interest'.

Not sure what I think of the fee even if it is £3m as that's peanuts to any Greed League team, even one as relatively inoffensive as Luton. On the other hand I think the timing is right for Mads himself to go and so I understand the move and wish him all the best and hope he can make a success of it.

Whatever the fee is it's value to us is not the receipt it's how well we use it. Spectemur Agendo etc.

Not with us he wouldn’t. He would be worth zero with us in a season.

Can see the logic in this for Luton. They'll probably spend modest (for the PL) fees, while getting some cash to invest in stadium, infrastructure etc... while looking to sign players that can develop into the quality needed for the top flight. I imagine that they're already really looking to build a team to compete for automatic promotion back to the prem the following season.

The club have limited leverage with a player with one year left on his contract.

£3m now equates to £60k a game to keep hold of him. If he wasn’t willing to sign a new contract I think the club have done good business.

Best of luck to a lovely lad who embraced Barnsley and stuck around much longer than his manager.

    Time for new heroes.

Well deserved jump up if true. I think that he can go on learning and developing with Luton in the Prem under Rob Edwards, for sure. Also, we may have more money coming in if, as rumoured, Mason Holgate moves from Everton to either Sheffield United, or Nottingham Forest. Surely he has to be worth ten million in current terms and that should give us another million, or one and a half million, depending on the sell on. I know we have a manageable debt, but some of that would give good financial support for a new manager to bring in two, or three decent players.

I believe Holgate is supposed to be going out on loan so there will be no billy bonus for the reds off him yet .
