I stuck Iseka in cos I do think there’s a player in there. I think with the right coach he could be a really good L1 striker. But…. I make glass bottles not manage football players..
I think with Iseka he wasn't prepared to put the graft into training so got popped off to Turkey. Agreed the player has ability but application needs to be upped.
Some absolutely far out opinions on this thread, so I’m not going to add to them! Just shows why Barnsley can’t agree on anything though.
If the £3m rumour for Andersen is right then I would expect us to replace him with a decent £1m defender. But expectations are not always met when it comes to our transfer business. Obviously we always seem to land a gem, eg Luca most recently… let’s hope we can do it again. REDS
I am not sure why Iseka should be anywhere near the ground never mind the 1st eleven , more work in a junior asprin
Thats me donating my eyeballs then , one of the first names on the sheet for me is Kane , proper footballer , excellent vision & passing ability who always gives it his best shot & is the one player who drives us up the pitch .
Moon was thrown under the bus by the pe teacher when he played him in different positions seemingly every game. Burton fans seemed to enjoy his loan spell so if he can get a run of games in his favoured position, I think we will see a different player to two seasons ago.
Utterly disagree. Ideally there’s room for both because teams need balance. But if I had to choose one it wouldn’t be Phillips.
The thing about buying a million pound defender is he's very likely to want and able to command better wages than we're offering.
It's odd how we all see things differently. Kane did have some good games, notably at Oakwell against Ipswich, I thought, but, rather than driving us up the pitch, I think he plays far too many sideways and backwards passes and slows down our momentum.
I think our midfield 3 is pretty set and compliment each other well. Without putting the kiss of death on it, I’d hope they’re all still here for the season. Defence will see Kitching step up as our strongest defender and then we’ll have to see the levels of Cundy, McCarthy, Lopata and Moon. Maybe get another loan in there? Wing backs are both good, although I suspect Williams could be off. Chance for Cotter to show what he’s got. For the nets, Brad is certainly good enough. Will probably need a half decent backup though to push him? I think up front is where we’ll see the transfer business. Cole and Norwood did well last year but I imagine we’ll probably bring in a couple. Unless Shaw has a preseason like prime Henry or Jalo is ready to step up his minutes. So for me that’s us signing a backup goalie, backup left wing back, centre back and a couple of strikers to add to the current squad. Maybe a right wing back too if Williams does leave.
I should probably clarify that while I agreed with the point being made, I would still ultimately rather have Kane in central midfield than Styles too. Not that I don't like Styles, I just think Kane is a more consistent performer.
I think Styles will move on TBH. I just don't think we'll get the money we hoped for him. Maybe close to £1m, but that might be linked to appearances? We'll see, will depend what offers come in & what the release clause said on his new deal, but also whether his heart is into playing for us too. Need a new manager / coach in place first surely?
