Do old has beens work,? I remember being thrilled when we signed England internationals Geoff Thomas and Kevin Richardson. What a flop they turned out to be. Paul Warhust another. If a striker loses 5% of his pace he goes from hero to zero. Ask David Hirst. Not saying Billy Sharp isn't a dedicated Pro but is he as sharp (intentional pun) as he was 5 years ago.
Reading won't be pleased. This whole thread is comedy gold about the month of June they have had. It's a long read but worth it.
Let's hope he's no spackman....lol Saying that I was all for spackman being appointed....how wrong was I
Lol anything would be better than a PE teacher...I agree but in . my defence though I didn't say it was....I just post what I'd been told...hence the title of the thread lol
Do young never have beens work? Hondermarck, Ali Omar, Cameron Thompson, Dan Bramall, Christie-Davies, Aitchison, Jinadu, Oduor, Schmidt, Palmer. And that's only going back 3 seasons or so. We must waste millions in fees and wages on young lads in the hope one or two are any good. Give me someone we KNOW is good any day of the week
Most of those players cost next to nothing. Schmidt and Oduor will have cost fees, but they’re the sort of players we expected to be a part of the team, do well and get sold for more money. They’re a different category. Thompson, Bramall etc were punts who cost peanuts
I thought Thomas was ok & I remember critics not being pleased when we signed Hendrie & Wilkinson , well they got that wrong & Norwood last season is another example but basically it is swings & roundabouts , some signings irrespective of age work out whilst others don"t
