I agree Patterson was 100% non playing staff but Thomas and Phillips weren't. I'm hoping we can have a balance of the best we can afford, old young and loans.
Wilder has clearly had difficulties in his last 2 jobs. Have to say I was surprised at how poorly he did at Middlesbrough given the platform and backing that Steve Gibson usually gives his managers so not sure what happened there. You can look at this two ways, firstly Wilder takes a role at another championship club but struggles again and is dismissed. Is he then damaged goods? Managerial reputation taken a real battering. Alternatively, he drops down a league, re invents himself and goes again. I don't think his appointment is as far out of reach as some on here suggest. He's local and clearly settled in the area, League one is arguably weaker this season, if he gets us promoted or at least in the play offs then his reputation is given a boost and he may have another championship job to go for. In a nutshell he can use us a stepping stone like Duff has!
Never said I did. I think it's a safe bet he'd be on a lot more than our usual Head coaches, from abroad or lower leagues stepping up.
I mean he was going to join Reading, so clearly managing in league 1 isn’t an issue to him. Still don’t believe it though. He’ll be our highest paid manager easily, & we will have given him assurances over transfer budgets which isn’t us at all.
Judging by how some on here operate, they'll be convinced that reason is just that they don't feel like it yet and want to piss off the fans as much as possible.
