Id always recommend eating in restaurants and boozing in pubs.

One of my favourite places, you're in for a treat.

We last went for a wedding in a city called Łódź which is a couple of hours away from Kraków, so we had a few days in one, then went to the other. But we were with a couple of Polish friends which made finding good places much easier.

For good food and bars, there's an area in the Jewish quarter called Okrąglak, which is a small market square with bars and restaurants all around it. It's a good walk away from the main town, but the Jewish quarter itself is well worth a visit. If you're into your craft beer, there's a pub in the corner of Okrąglak called Nowy Kraftowy. It's very easy to miss though, as you can only see the door to it, as its sandwiched between a shot bar (they're a big thing in Poland) and I think a hotel. The pinball museum is good fun if you're into your old arcade games. It works a similar way to Retrodome in town. And it's dead easy to get around as hiring electric scooters is dead cheap, and is as simple as downloading an app. We went to see Cracovia's stadium on them.

We didn't have many meals as such, as we were in a big group, and just picked up food as we were walking around. But I'll ask the Mrs for recommendations when she wakes up because my memory is dreadful :D

The milk bar is worth a visit. It's a cafeteria type cafe, still(!) subsidised by the government and harks back to the communist era. Milk bars used to be hugely popular all across Poland when people had nowt, now there are only a handful left. You'll get traditional grub at cut price (no waiters or waitresses as is tradition), if you're after authenticity. Good place to go for some lunch and the experience. The castle is also good, and the church in the main square. Can't remember specific bars/clubs, it's all a blur!

Salt Mines are also worth visiting. Brilliantly carved statues and huge caverns excavated by the miners. Schindler factory is also worth seeing. Have a meal in the main square, it's dearer than the Jewish Quarter but still very cheap and has a great atmosphere. Lots of the bars around the centre have bands on downstairs. Krakow is one of my favourite places to visit.

You can do an Auschwitz tour, you can take a train from Krakow to the town. I'd also recommend a few trays in the Wodka Bar after your visit to the camp...

It's got a similar vibe to Vienna in places, as it was part of the Habsburg empire, except it is much cheaper.
The coffee shops are really nice there - cappuccino and cake for the half the price of the UK.
I think you could do everything in 3 nights really as it is a small place.
