Wilder might just rock up to keep himself in the shop window until a better job comes up. I'm sure he'd dictate the terms of his contract so he could leave at the drop of a hat. His salary won't be an issue to him short term.

Seems to be looking more likely now. Wonder if we’re waiting for the Andersen move to be confirmed first so we can immediately follow up with good news.

Is it though? Can't see any news/speculation anywhere else other than this forum, from a poster, "in the know"...

Not like you to post a
Talk about over reaction , managers get sacked & replaced all the time during an ongoing season , the new man comes in with about 3 days before the next match but I feel sure it doesn"t take 10 matches for them to get a grip , there is still plenty of time & surely it is better to take time & get it right instead of rushing in and making a mistake . I am curious , why do some fans demand everything instantly ?

I think this move suits his professional stature - a good stint at Sheffield United, otherwise a good lower league / underwhelming championship record.

Given the trend toward foreign coaches for weathy and ambitious Championship owners, the clubs he’s going to attract will be those on the margins - like us at the top of League One or the bottom of the Champ.

I’d rather go with the former - less risk and higher reward.

It won't be Wilder. First game for the new boss today. Bit of continuity and I look forward to seeing things take shape next month.

Why? Club man, knows the players, knows the plan and was effectively the manager on match days anyway, so why not? It might not click from Day 1, but we know he wouldn't fu¢k us over like that last pri¢k.

If Duff had hit the ground running we’d have got automatic promotion. Whoever the new guy is we need to give him all the time we can to stamp his brand of football on the players.

It does seem strange that there’s been absolutely nothing from any journalists. Does make me wonder how much is in it. Doesn’t Wilder have his own team? Where would that leave Devaney? It just doesn’t feel right to me somehow.

By the way no-one would be happier than me if it was him. Perhaps it’s just me not allowing myself to get excited!!

Just a personal opinion but I just don’t see Disco as a manager/head coach.

How long did it take for Duff to turn them round last year?
The loss of Duff has cost us that continuity. All I’m saying is that we lost a lot of points in the early part of the season and if he’d had more time to get the team working and we’d got those early points we’d have got automatic promotion last year.
Nobody’s panicking, just stating the obvious. It takes time for a coach to build his side and close season is very short these days.

I am not sure if Wilder would have is own team as such being that he is out of work but I am sure he would have a short list of colleagues he would like to bring but the club also can stipulate such as Disco would remain as he he did when Duff came.

The club will no doubt at least consider the low cost internal continuity option.

A slower recruitment process and a few friendlies for the default to win or lose the job wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.
