If they're basing a managerial appointment on pre-season results then they're definitely in the wrong business.

    I don’t see why.

Results come from performances, and performing teams get points and promotions.

Pre-season? Really?? Where on earth have you been? I've seen us look like world-beaters in pre-season, only to tank in the league proper and vice-versa. The friendlies are about getting players match-fit and trying the odd new thing. Nothing more.

The silence from the Board is more than deafening. It's like they're ignoring the fact that the Season is only 6 weeks away and as far as we kmow, no- one is anywhere near in place as Head Coach/Manager. It's no wonder we're all running round like headless chickens speculating for all we're worth. Come on Khaled, give us a clue!

Bit much that, given the figures quoted in the Moore thread for managers' wages in the Championship v League 1. I don't think you can begrudge anyone likely tripling their salary.

Exactly, and Duff would've known the average Championship wage before he joined us, so could have spared us all the long-haul loyalty bollo¢ks at the time.

I’m guessing he also knew Champ managers average salary though, before he came out with everything he did.

You want him to give you a clue? Like what?
"It's someone that sounds like they're more angry than someone else. Geddit?"
"Oh wait he's changed his mind at the last minute and now I look like a right pillock and all the fans who wanted a clue are calling me incompetent. Who'd have thought it?"
    What exactly do you want?
All the names on the shortlist? A list of the interview questions?
It's the same circus every single time this happens and it's tedious to hear the moaning over and over again.
They're going to do what every other club and professional organisation does. Interview. Offer the job. Wait for acceptance and then announce.

They’re also about learning or applying a system.

You always need to allow for the relative quality of the opposition, but you know when and if it’s working.

Might be better if we try and avoid the circus coming to town every year

If I was a manager/headcoach (I'm not) and I signed a contract to start a new job on the Friday and that team had a game on the Saturday, I think I would want to be at that game rather than hold off for a couple of days for some publicity shots.
For this reason I'm currently in the not happening camp, hopefully I'm wrong

    I found it quite amusing.
Maybe if we laughed a bit more life would be more fun.
