Heard the one about the Irish bloke who walked into a football club and ............... If this is true underwhelming is an understatement did they learn nothing with Slop and arsebaggage
Wonder what players like connell Phillips cadden think to this **** show of a summer players with ambition. This board have showed none.
By appointing a bloke who has consistently improved his club's league position year upon year, leading them into Europe? If it is Higgins it's a leftfield appointment, but his record speaks for itself. Big Val's record was pretty similar in a smaller European league and he turned out to be ok.
It's obvious that the way we operate offers little or no chance of building anything to last from one season to the next. It would seem that our head coaches have little say in player recruitment and retention. Not many managers/head coaches will want to take that on. Duff maybe saw enough in one year to make him want to get out at the first opportunity.
I don't get all the negativity. As a club we do our homework, we got it right with Duff - the last appointment inder this regime, trust them to do the correct due diligence and interview process again. And get behind whoever they appoint. You Redds.
On the face of it, a prospective appointment such as this would not strike a positive note about the board's opinion of Devaney's managerial capabilities.
That’s not true, Duff said many times he had the final say on all transfers in terms of building from one season to the next, we’ve sold 1 player and bought 1 player. It’s just the manager that’s gone, the squads more or less the same. Loan players will be replaced with more loan players, but every single team does that year on year. Don’t get me wrong I’d love us to have the same manager for several seasons and build their project. Keep in mind though that the board didn’t want Duff to go, they tried to keep him by offering a better contract, but he didn’t want to be here. We can blame the release clause which was the boards/ceos choice to offer but I’m not sure we would have got Duff without it.
